Brookes Seeking 100 Prayer Partners
Brookes is seeking 100 people to become a prayer partner with us.  We currently have 83.  We will send a monthly email to you with prayer requests.   We will not during this time ask for finances from you.  There may be a prayer request for funds, but you will not receive a solicitation for funds in this email.  It is strictly for prayer requests.  Please join us in prayer for Brookes.  Brookes started because the Christian community of St. Louis saw a need for a Bible Training School and through the prayers and gifts of that community, Brookes was formed.

This is not a one-way street as we would like to pray for you.  You can email your prayer requests or send them through the USPS to us.  We, also, have a tab on our website where you can view prayer requests from other people.  That tab does require a password, which you can request from us.

The man who kneels to God can stand up to anything.

Jokes and Quips-Macisms

Group laughing

I know most of you are familiar with Jim McIntosh and the jokes he tells in class.  Here are some Macisms.

A man took his Rottweiler to the vet.  "My dog is cross-eyed", he explained.  "Is there anything you can do for him?"

"Well", said the vet, "let's have a look at him."  So he picked the dog up, examined his eyes, then checked his teeth.  finally he said to the owner, "I'm going to have to put him down."  "What? Because he's cross-eyed?"  "No, because he's really heavy."

Smile

Two hats were hanging on a hat rack in the hallway.  One hat said to the other:  You stay here, I'll go on a head.

Brookes Cooks
CookbookBlack Cookbook cover

The Brookes Cooks cookbook has arrived.  There are over

200 recipes in the cookbook with entries by some of the Brookes' staff; missionaries, which include Marty Zide (Midwest Messianic Center) and Matt/Ellen Bjerk (Croatia); Linda Kroll (wife of Dr. Woodrow Kroll); alumni; students; and friends of the school.  There are some fabulous recipes and you will gain very little weight by trying all of them. Laughing emoticon

Some features of the cookbook:
  • A stand is included with the cookbook.
  • The recipes are non-continuous, which means they are on one page.
  • There are tabs for each category.

It costs $20.00 and if you desire to have it shipped, the cost is $6.00 for shipping/handling.  If you desire, the cookbook is on a CD for the same cost, or the cookbook/CD together is $35.00.

Brookes went to Israel

Garden tomb

Brookes went to Israel from December 29-January 9.  What a Blessed time was had by all.  The Brookes group was part of a larger group (23 in all), which was led by Rev. Mike Burt, adjunct instructor of Biblical Languages at BBI.
Mike kept us moving, which was great as we were able to experience and see much.

Among the places we visited were:
  • Capernaum where we had a personal time of meditation by the Sea of Galilee.
  • Jordan River, where several were baptized.
  • A boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and had a Sunday AM service.
  • Megiddo and Mt. Carmel
  • Nazareth, Bethlehem, Caesarea Phillipi, Caesarea by the Sea.
  • Jerusalem--visited the Wailing Wall, Dome of the Rock, Mt. of Olives, Caiphas' palace steps, Garden Tomb (had a communion service)
  • Masada, Qumran, En Gedi, Jericho, and Jerash.
  • and many,many others.

Due to travel problems caused by weather, six of us, including Mike Burt missed the first day, which was a trip to Petra.  We will see that the next trip to Israel.  We would like to take another trip to Israel in December, 2012-January, 2013.  Make plans to join us.

2010-11 Academic Year

We are in our third trimester and the headcount has been down this year from previous years.  We mailed a survey to students from the last three years who haven't returned to school.  Out of 90 surveys, we only received 7 responses.  Not a high percentage, but several of them indicated they were taking a break. The Academic Year ends with this current trimester on June 17, with graduation on June 18 @ Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, Ill.  Please join us for the graduation at 10 AM.  Click on the church name for directions.

Brookes now has an online store where you can purchase shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, backpacks, briefcases, gym bags, etc that are available with the school logo.  The items will be shipped directly to your residence. Click here or on the online store in the first line.
