We are going to have a new addition to the school in the fall.  We are in the process of remodeling the back room on the first floor of the second building, 3463 S. Grand, to use as a student union.  We will have a small refrigerator with water/soda, a microwave, a coffee maker, and other items for students to use before and after classes.  We will have a ceremony to dedicate the room.  The monies for the room were donated in honor of the above named lady who had a heart for young people.
Alumni of the Quarter

See who is the new Alumni of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2010.  You can nominate a candidate for Alumni of the quarter by clicking here.

Brookes Seeking 100 Prayer Partners
Brookes is seeking 100 people to become a prayer partner with us.  We currently have 67.  We will send a monthly email to you with prayer requests.   We will not during this time ask for finances from you.  There may be a prayer request for funds, but you will not receive a solicitation for funds in this email.  It is strictly for prayer requests.  Please join us in prayer for Brookes.  Brookes started because the Christian community of St. Louis saw a need for a Bible Training School and through the prayers and gifts of that community, Brookes was formed.

This is not a one-way street as we would like to pray for you.  You can email your prayer requests or send them through the USPS to us.  We, also, have a tab on our website where you can view prayer requests from other people.  That tab does require a password, which you can request from us.

Picnic

Brookes is having a picnic on August 21, 2010 from 1-5 at Carondelet Park.  Click here for a map and the location (our pavilion is located on Grand Dr.).  Brookes will provide the meat.  Call or email the school for a reservation so we know how much meat to purchase.  When you call or email, we will ask you to provide either a side dish or drinks.  We are looking forward to this as we continue to celebrate Brookes' 100th Anniversary.

You might want to bring a lawn chair so there is enough seating for everyone.  Table games will be available as well as a game of washers.  If you have your favorite table game, please bring it.  We are looking forward to the fellowship.
2010-11 Academic Year

We are starting a new schedule in the fall as we are going to a trimester system.  (View 2010-11 Academic Calendar.) Currently, on our semester system, we offer a class every other year.  By changing to a trimester schedule, we will be able to offer our classes every year.  However, some of the classes that were two hours will be three hours, but the school will still offer two hour classes.  In addition, instead of 16/17-week semesters, the trimesters will be 12 weeks.

Later this summer or early fall, Brookes will debut our online store.  Shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, backpacks, briefcases, gym bags, etc will be available with the school logo.  The items will be shipped directly to your residence. An announcement will be forthcoming as to when the store will be online.  We are within weeks of placing this link on our website.

Brookes is planning a trip to Israel the end of 2010.  This may have been done in a previous year, but no record is found of a trip.  Click here to view the brochure, packing/travel tips, the daily itinerary, cost, and any other details.  Contact information is included in the brochure.

It is not too late to have you join us for this trip to the Holy Land.  We would love to have you join us.

Monthly Prayer Time

We have been having a great time in prayer the third Sunday of every month from 2:30-3:30.  On July 18, we had Dr. Kerry Johnson of West Overland Bible Church.  What a Blessed time we had as Dr. Johnson briefly shared with us from Joshua.  Instead of sharing the highlights here, what he shared with us is on West Overland's website.  Click here to read what he shared with us.

Please join us for prayer on Sunday, August 15, and in the following months.  We have been having the staff or an area pastor share a short devotional with us and then the rest of the time is spent in prayer for the students, our nation, Brookes, and other prayer requests.  Share your prayer requests with us and we will join with you in prayer.

CookbookCookbook cover

How many of you love to eat, cook, bake, and discover new recipes?  I'm sure many of you do.  Brookes is looking to publish a cookbook with recipes from current students, alumni, friends, and others who would like to contribute.  Get your recipe boxes ready and typing fingers ready.  Each person can contribute a maximum of three recipes.  We are looking forward to this project so we can see the fruits of everyone's hard labor.
