 Greetings!

The picture above is one of Mulberry's supported families.  The Shalbesky family includes twelve foster children, two biological daughters, one grandson and one amazing set of parents.  Yes, there are seventeen in all.  (In case you're trying to count noses, one of the biological daughters is the photographer.)

In the last two years, three infants have been added to this family.  The parents are concerned their age will make it difficult for them to add children so they are making sure their home is full.

The family is living in half a house- literally.  The original structure was made of dirt bricks, think adobe, and infested with mold and vermin.  That part had to be demolished.  A new structure is now under construction.

This family is an example of God's faithfulness to Mulberry as we go through some unbelievable legal struggles. As we fight to maintain our legal presence, God continues to add to the families we support.  Our work with at-risk children is growing.  And, there is a dedicated Christian team in place.

Thanks for being part of this ministry.  We couldn't do it without you.

Don't grow weary.

Baby wards

Ward Sevastopol 2 childrenIn Ukrainian hospitals the baby ward will have two beds for every patient.  Since the family is responsible for providing food, medicine, sheets and bedclothes, each crib has a cot for the child-patient's caregiver.  When the child is abandoned or has been removed from the home, there isn't a caregiver so the children use the cot as a play area.

Mulberry supports a worker who visits the abandoned babies in two hospitals.  A second worker and a third hospital will be added to our ministry soon.   Children can be in these wards for several months.  The hospital staff will often drag the process out, delaying the child's placement in a state-run institution.  Unless foster care can be arranged, living conditions for these children will only get worse.

A special thanks to a group from Iowa who is making this third baby ward ministry possible.  And to several of you who faithfully support Hussein, our first worker in this ministry.

Mama Shalbesky

Mama with 3 babies

This picture is too good not to share.  This is Mama Shalbesky with her biological grandson and the three new additions to her family.  At the time of this photo, the infants were 4, 6 and 14 months old.  The 6 and 14 month olds are actually sisters.  I know the math is tricky.  Both were premature and have severe medical problems that will have to be addressed.

These children will grow up seeing God's love in action every day.

The family has enough support to get their new home under roof, but will need more help to finish the project.
