Playful Pooches and Parents Dog Training
The Place for you and your dog
to SUCCEED!
My vision and mission statement: To coach dogs and their owners to live better together in harmony and balance |
Dear Valued Dog owners and their dogs,.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope this season is all you wish and want for it to be. I thank you for your business this year and hope to continue to offer you the best in dog training for you and your dog in the coming year.
As you all know, I have a new puppy named Mac. He is a Shar-Pei, Chow mix. He just turned 5 months and what a handful. He has been to many classes and met many of you and your dogs. He will be getting his AKC Star Puppy Award soon, will be neutered soon and has made his first nursing home visit. Check Facebook for his pics.
Another Therapy Dogs in Training class has graduated. Graduates include: Animal Ark-BJ, Tippi, Abby, Sully. Family Pet Center: Lily, Penny and Ranger. Lots of folk's Christmas was brightened by their visits. Wish them luck as they take the Therapy Dog Certification test. They will all do great! Our condolences to Jan, Vicky and Dave Gump and their family on the loss of Jan's husband Mickey. He was a wonderful man and will be truly missed by his family, staff of Animal Ark and friends. Remember, no classes Saturday Dec 31 and Sunday Jan 1. Thank you for your continued business, support and referrals in this struggling economy. I will be celebrating 10 years in business in 2012. I'm thankful for all the 2000+ dogs and owners that have come through my classes during the years. I have learned something new from each and every one of them. I have truly enjoyed them all and I know I have the best job in the world. Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year to you and your family, Lydia
P.S. Be sure to check Facebook: Playful Pooches and Parents for specials and in the event of closing for bad weather. And Mac's pics. |

Keep it going through the holidays!
Don't forget to train your dog during the holidays. Every moment is a training moment. Either you are training them or they are training you. Make sure your dog sits politely for company to pet.If they don't, have company turn away and try again. Get outside while it's still relatively nice and practice some stays and comes. Take an afternoon and go to the park to practice some LOOSE leash walking. Repetition is key. Take GOOD rewards and practice, practice, practice. |

Consider adopting a retired Greyhound
These dogs have spent the first part of their lives racing. Help them spend the rest of it being a dog. Consider adopting a retired greyhound. They really don't need a huge yard, just a fenced one and some wonderful warm bed to be a couch potato the rest of the time. Fix your foot!
This is something Mac learned from day one. He's smaller than my other dogs and I was not going to bend down forever and untangle his feet from the leash. He can do it and so can your dog. When your dog steps over the leash, tug low with the leash against the back of his foot and say "fix your foot". Most dogs will lift their foot when they feel the leash touch it. Pull the leash out and click and treat. "Good fix your foot!". Works for all paws and helps our backs. Gives them a job to do too. |
