Dear valued dog owners,

Happy Valentine's Day to your and yours.Counting the days till Spring. I'm done with snow at least for this year. Bring on the heat!

Therapy Dogs in Training classes are going great. We have 5 new dogs practicing to be Therapy dogs: Winnie, Joe, Bella, Rocky, and Coco. We are into the field trip part of the classes which is my favorite part. I'm sure they will do great and bring lots of love and joy to all they meet. New Therapy Dog in Training classes will be starting in March. Email me if you are interested. I will teach them in both Anderson and Animal Ark if I have enough interest.

Need help? You can email, call or send me a message on Facebook. I will be glad to answer any questions we couldn't get to in class.

Just an early FYI: I will be closed for Easter Friday April 22, Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24. Have a great Easter break!

If spring is coming, park classes can't be too far away. As soon as we get light later, we'll be in the park on Mondays and Tuesdays. Stay tuned. Also in next issue-Be the Moose. I'll tell you all about it next month. Till then have a wonderful and Happy Valentine's Day!

Sincerely,

Lydia McCarthy (and my soul dog Oreo)

On Losing Your Best Friend

Commentary on my blog

sad dog

Check out the entry on my blog about losing your best friend. I have heard so many loss stories lately that I had to make a comment about it. I just heard another one yesterday and they just break my heart. I have lost a couple in the last year or so myself and I know how hard it is to lose your best canine (or feline) buddy. Keep them forever in your heart and mind and they won't be so far away.  (lost my diabetic beagle Gable Dec 7,2010,12 years young)

for all the latest information. Race starts March 5th. You can check out daily video clips, updates and all the latest. It is sure to be exciting. I've always wanted to see it and maybe one day I will. Until then I'll watch it here to see all the dog teams do what they were breed to do and are so happy to do. Great stuff.

Training in the Real World

Classes are like coaching sessions. Life is like playing the game. You and your dog are a team. Get out there and do it. Training happens every moment you are with your dog. Either you are teaching him or he is teaching you. Every walk is a training walk. Every moment a training opportunity. Every game you play with him, he's learning. Take advantage and use it. Training will go faster and easier if you train in the real world in real time.Go team!
