Three New Specialty Classes
Therapy Dog in Training
Succeed on Lead: Help for Leash Aggressive Dogs
Adventure Trails
Cincinnati, Ohio - March 2010 - Here's the scoop on all the new classes. First starting is Therapy Dogs in Training-Teamwork in Action. If you have a dog that has passed their Canine Good Citizen Test and want to get into Therapy dog work, these classes will give you the practice you need to get your dog certified as a Therapy Dog. Your dog should be "inherently social , non-reactive and relatively calm" (per Patrica McConnell PhD and Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist, author, speaker, trainer) and this is just for starters. We will work through all the steps and practice to get you and your dog ready to be certified as a Therapy Dog.

Next up is Succeed on Lead-Help for Leash Aggressive Dogs. Dogs should have some basic training but it is not mandatory. Classes meets for 7 weeks: 3 weeks without your dog to train you first, then 4 weeks with your dog at different local parks to practice what you are learning. There is homework-lots. (Also I am looking to borrow a wheelchair and walker if anyone has any to lend)

Last is Adventure Trails. We will be hiking the foot trails of the Hamilton County Parks with our dogs. We will explore, learn and have fun together.

The What, When, Where and How
Classes will be at two locations: Anderson and Colerain. Except for the Trail classes, field work in the leash aggression class and field trips. Sign up, commitment and attendance is important because these classes are not a levels program. You need to be there for each one. Classes are limited but may be run again in a few months if requests demand.  Minimum class size: 4 dogs and owners. Maximum class size: 6 dogs and owners. Payment in advance will hold your spot. If minimum attendance is not reached by first class, I'll call you and your money will be refunded.
