Birthday Book Club Update

  

my birthdayThe BBC will celebrate birthdays by inviting students to make a donation toward the purchase of a professionally selected, hardcover, shelf ready library book. 

 

Every quarter, students who have chosen to participate will be invited to attend a birthday party in their honor. 

 

Party #1:  August, September, October birthdays is September 28th  

 

Paw Partner Contributions

  

PawPartner program A huge thank you to all of the DCES Families who have made a PawPartner Contribution. We are already halfway to our goal for the year!!! If you haven't made your contribution yet there is still time!!

PTO has eliminating traditional fundraising that relies on students selling "stuff". PawPartner contributions are voluntary donations to the DCES PTO where 100% of your donation goes directly back into the school and to your child's education.

PTO General Meeting

 

The PTO will be hosting the 1st General Meeting for the 2012/13 School Year on Thursday, Sept 13th from 9:00 - 10:30am in the Elementary Cafeteria.

 

All parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

 

The PTO will be introducing our 2012/13 Board Members and our Committee Chairs will be giving an update for upcoming fall activities.

 

Additional details for this PTO General Meeting will be forthcoming. 

Parent University Project

We are looking for committee volunteers: parents, teachers, staff - all stakeholders welcome to join our planning committee. 

   

The SUSD believes that parenting, like many types of education, is a continuing and lifelong process!  The Parent University Project offers a day of Parenting Workshops designed to appeal to parents of diverse social backgrounds, educational status, and families of all ages.  Our goal with this project is to provide parents with research based knowledge, skills and resources to support their children's education and increase student achievement.  Further, we wish to support parents in navigating our schools, systems, and partnerships.

Seeking New Lead for the Artist in Residence Program for 2012/13 School Year

 

We are currently looking for one or two individuals to coordinate the Artist in Residence program for the 2012/13 school year.  

We are so excited about our 2012/13 Artist in Residence program!! Our artist this year is Carmen Guerrero.   Carmen is a musician, artist, teacher, and community arts advocate with over 20 years of experience.

Thank you to the parents that have volunteered to assist the teachers get the kids safely in and out of their cars throughout this school year.

The morning shift is from 8:15-8:45 and the afternoon shift is from 3:10 to 3:30.

SPI 1st Annual 5K Walk-a-Thon

Scottsdale Prevention Institute Scottsdale Prevention Institute  is having it's first Annual 5K Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, October 7th at Eldorado Park from 8:00 - 12:00

 
SPI has been providing prevention services to children, youth and families in the Scottsdale schools for over 25 years.  Proceeds from this event will provide more SPI local programs and expand services to include parents.
