UUA Action of the Month

The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is launching an exciting new initiative called Action of the Month. Each month, the UUA implements robust action campaigns that aim to engage congregations and individual Unitarian Universalists (UUs). The monthly actions focus on accomplishing concrete objectives that reflect our faith values.

September's Action of the Month is the Tents of Hope for Darfur. Visit the UUA website for more information on Tents of Hope or to find how how to take action.

Greetings!

Welcome to the September issue of Young Adult News.  Things are picking up speed here at the UUA as summer slowly reaches its official end. With so many conferences, trainings and retreats on our horizon, it's sure to be a jam-packed autumn.

This brief but important issue includes a description of the 1Sky Campaign (a movement endorsed by the UUA to encourage federal action to stop global warming ), details on the LREDA Fall Conference happening in October, information about new vacancies in various leadership committees in the UUA, and more.

Reminder: This is your last chance to register for the October Training Event for Young Adult and Campus Ministry Professionals being hosted by the Office of Young Adult Ministries. For more information (and to register) please view the registration form online.

Best wishes,
Hallie Andrew

LREDA Fall Conference 2008

The Liberal Religious Educators' Association (LREDA) is hosting its annual Fall Conference this year from October 24-27 in Albuquerque, NM.  Highlights for this year's conference include meeting the UUA presidential candidates, various workshops about looking through a multigenerational lens, words from keynote speaker the Rev. Dr. Rebecca Parker and much more! For more information including contact info and registration form, visit the LREDA Fall Conference webpage.
UUA Endorses 1Sky Campaign
(From the About 1Sky Page):  "1Sky was created in 2007 to focus the power of millions of concerned Americans on a single goal: bold federal action by 2010 that can reverse global warming. The 1Sky Solutions are grounded in scientific necessity-they are the bottom line of what's needed to dramatically reduce carbon emissions while maximizing energy efficiency, renewable energy and breakthrough technologies. They also represent significant economic promise. By pivoting to a clean energy economy, we can relieve our dependence on foreign oil, unlock the potential of sustainable industry and usher in a new era of prosperity and green jobs."

The UUA proudly endorses this campaign and we encourage individuals, congregations, and campus ministries to sign the pledge and support this cause. For more information including ways to build support for this movement, visit www.1sky.org.
