Learn How to Develop Your Web Presence and Improve Your Business

Main Library, Bradley Walters Community Room

Thursday, February 16, 2 to 5:30 pm.

The Main Library is offering an extensive course, called Developing a Web Presence for Your Business. The course is offered as part of OPL's e-Government Literacy at the Library program.

This course lays the foundation for the successful integration of a website into normal business operations and introduces the best practices for web development to the small business owner.  In addition, the information offered presents the building blocks to challenge small business owners to further research, understand, use and master emerging technologies. At the end of the course there will be a demonstration on identifying and using government resources as part of your business planning.

Join a Serious, Ongoing Discussion of the Civil War at AAMLO

African American Museum and Library at Oakland, 659 14th Street

Next meeting: February 11, 2 pm

March, by Geraldine BrooksThis month AAMLO begins a five-part reading and discussion series, called Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the Civil War. The series will examine the historical complexity and irony associated with what has been called "the horrible gift of freedom" - otherwise known as the Emancipation Proclamation. The series will continue with monthly sessions until June.

The discussion series will follow the American Library Association's popular Let's Talk About It model, which engages participants in discussion of a set of common texts selected by a nationally known scholar for their relevance to a larger, overarching theme.
