Resources Inside and Outside the Classroom: Differentiation with Environmental Education and Natural Resources in the Science Classroom (Grades 3 - 8)
Natural resources offer a wealth of learning opportunities beyond traditional teaching methods. In this fun, fast-paced overview of natural resources including recycling, compost, soil, and water, we will explore interesting new ways to delve into these topics using Gardner's multiple intelligences. Interest your students who both traditionally excel or struggle with this type of content through action packed classroom lessons that keep kids coming back for more.
Additionally, we will travel around the community to utilize a wide variety of "other" classrooms such as a local river for water monitoring, a compost education exhibit, and a Materials Recycling Facility to introduce participants to the wide variety of environmental educational resources available. All participants will receive a copy of the Project Wet Curriculum and Activity Guide with over 90 hands on activities.

Paper Traveling Trunk
Online Traveling Trunk
For this fall we have a new traveling trunk that is completely electronic!  Students learn about the importance of recycling paper through three fun lesson sets.  This trunk was specifically made for 4th grade teachers and would make a great stand alone unit or an excellent supplement to the LEAF curriculum or studies about the state of Wisconsin. New Elementary Presentations
Kindergarten - 6th Grade
Is your school looking to quickly cover recycling to better meet the state standards and make your school recycling program function better?  Our new set of programming options for elementary schools will help you meet these goals.  We have designed a set of programs for Kindergarten through 6th grade that will show students new and exciting things about recycling, waste reduction, natural resources, compost, and more.  Each presentation builds on the previous years content to bring students age appropriate information that can be customized for your school to dovetail with your current curriculum.  Stay tuned for more information!
New Field Trip Opportunity
A.P. Day
Do you teach Advanced Placement Environmental Science?  We are currently seeing if there is interest in a one day introduction to Environmental Science provided by Waukesha County staff at Retzer Nature Center.  Topics could include an introduction to local habitats, water quality, ground water, natural resources, waste management, recycling, compost, soil, and hazardous waste.  If you are possibly interested in such an event, please contact Analiese Smith via e-mail or by telephone (262.896.8309) with your contact information and the anticipated number of students you will have this fall.
