Hello Colleagues, I'm in the middle of the state and national project to assist in address the public health issue of domestic violence. I am one of several dedicated individuals who strives to continue to build strong relationships within our communities . Information is crucial to any effort to promote accountability. You're well aware of the specialized domestic violence courts which currently exist and are designed to improve victim safety and enhance defendant accountability. We have been very fortunate to have some very successful DV courts in Florida, however the criminal justice system becomes increasingly complex each year as new laws and decisions have been impacted political change and legal standards dramatically. This is also a time when even our government offices , Department Children & Family and law enforcement is being affected by hiring freezes and budget cuts, the result is fewer resources and public programs for those accused of crimes, and their friends and families. As part of a team, it's our attempt to step into action and take action. Education and sharing valuable resources are key during these stressful times. I would like to solicit well-written and factual articles that I could place within a state dispersed newsletter. This newsletter will have an opportunity to reach not only advocates, BIP providers, judges, probation officers, law enforcement, educators, clinicians and various state officials. An example of content should you desire to submit an article: * Best Practice approaches * Solution focused approaches in hard times.. * When politics impacts resources for victim safety * The alarming increase in domestic violence cases with a special emphasis on special populations. (Elderly, Military Vet's, Co-occurring) * An overview and impact from the governors suggested budget cuts- how does this truly affect families impacted by domestic violence ? * Trauma therapy evidence-based articles- best practice approaches * Issues around legality assessments- and skilled assessors Please provide me with your thoughts Respectfully, |

Insideout Wellness Coda Corner: Protecting our Energy
There can be many reasons of developing the habit of giving our energy away. We may have learned it when we were young because the feelings we had were too overwhelming to feel and we were not taught how to process them. This was true for me.
Much of our obsessing, our intense focus on others, our looking externally to feel good inside, our wanting to control others, is done to cope with this "out of body" experience we call codependency.
We obsess, we worry, we talk and babble about "our story", we become anxious, and stress over the future. We try to control, caretake, and focus on others. Our energy spills out of us on to whomever.
Our energy is our energy. Our feelings, thoughts, issues, emotions, physical health, spirituality, creative energy is ours.
In becoming balanced and healthy, we can create healthy boundaries around ourselves and our energy. We can learn to keep our energy within ourselves and focus on our own issues.
If we are trying to escape our bodies, if our energy is spilling out of us in unhealthy ways, we can get quiet and honest and ask ourselves what is going on, what is hurting us, what we may be avoiding that we need to face, what we need to deal with, remembering, that feelings buried alive never die.
This is why when dealing with our health and developing a wellness program, it is important to look at our emotions and how we are handling and dealing with them. Focusing on external people and things, blaming them for how we are feeling, and allowing them to upset us, can make us physically sick and drained with a lack of energy.
Practice keeping your energy inside your body. Stay within your personal boundaries. Realize that your health, physically, emotionally and spiritually is your responsibility. Ask God to help you let go of your need to escape yourself, to have the strength to face your own issues, so you can be comfortable living in your own body.
Healthy Blessings,

Recently the Joint Commission of Hospital Accreditation has published material agencies may want to consider for your sentinel policies
You may access JACHO at http://www.jointcommission.org. The link between health care worker fatigue and adverse events is well documented, with a substantial number of studies indicating that the practice of extended work hours contributes to high levels of worker fatigue and reduced productivity. These studies and others show that fatigue increases the risk of adverse events, compromises patient safety, and increases risk to personal safety and well-being. While it is acknowledged that many factors contribute to fatigue, including but not limited to insufficient staffing and excessive workloads, the purpose of this Sentinel Event Alert is to address the effects and risks of an extended work day and of cumulative days of extended work hours. Do you need a consultant to assist you with JACHO Accreditation? Give Silvernail Consultant Services a call? 561-642-3103 |
