FKCo Returns From The Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA

Alan, Jen, and Daniel just got back from attending the 2009 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA where they each presented vital financial information and technology solutions to the music retailing industry.  They also took the time to meet with both existing and prospective music retailing clients. In light of the bumpy economy, we're doing our very best to give solid advice to weather the storm.  The NAMM Trade Show allows us to meet one-on-one with retailers to provide advice on important topics such as inventory management, point-of-sale systems, internet marketing and social networking, and fiscal responsibility.  You can see more on The NAMM Show by clicking HERE.

One of the most successful sessions Alan has delivered was on Saturday, January 17th with industry consultant Danny Rocks.  The two collected ideas from their industry peers and presented a session entitled "The 25 Best Ideas to Implement NOW!"  Click the photo below to see the entire 82 minute presentation for yourself.  No matter what your business is, you're sure to be inspired.

E-Filing, The Real Truth

Here are some important facts to know about e-filing.

1.  FKCo can not e-file your tax return until you have signed and returned the 8879 form (included in your FKCo tax return packet behind the pink instruction sheet) to us either by mail, fax or scan.

2.  E-filing is the most efficient way to file your return, and it is the preferred method by the IRS.

3.  If you get your return done early and you owe money, you can still e-file early.  However, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY THE IRS UNTIL APRIL 15TH!

4.  You can pay the IRS by either sending in your payment with your payment voucher (this must be postmarked by 04.15.09) or you can have those funds directly withdrawn from your bank account.  Ask your tax preparer for details.

5.  If you have a refund, you can have it deposited directly into your bank account by providing us your bank routing and account numbers.  This is the fastest way to receive your refund.

Don's 'Whine' of the Month

With the economy wrecking havoc on our wallets my focus this month has been on "great values".  To find a wine that WOW's you for $15 is pretty special.  This month's selection does just that.

Don's Pick for February is...

MONTOYA
2005 Cabernet

Vineyard:  Napa Valley, California

Great with: Pepper-encrusted steak and baked sweet potatoes.

Alan's Guitar of The Month

My guitar pick of the month is the "always affordable" Gibson Melody Maker...a great pick, in my opinion, during these tough economic times.  Originally introduced in the late 1950's as a student model, the Melody Maker (like the Les Paul Junior) is a stripped-down version of the more elaborate and expensive Les Paul.  Over the years, the Melody Maker became a favorite for its light weight, comfortable neck and great tone (even from just one pickup). Today's Melody Maker is no exception. With a special design single-coil pickup, a vintage-style wraparound tailpiece and rounded neck profile, the Melody Maker is an unbelievable value (a true Gibson for under $500) for players of all ages, styles, and skill levels. So take your tax refund, strap on a Melody Maker, gain a couple hundred pounds, and start playing "Mississippi Queen" (Yes, Melody Makers and Les Paul Juniors were the guitars of choice for guitarist Leslie West of Mountain fame..:>)

Fkco Welcomes New Staff

We would like to welcome two new staff members to Friedman, Kannenberg, & Co.

Lynda Bradley comes to us as a tax accountant.  She spent six years at the accounting firm of Michael R. Des Roches, CPA, LLC.  You may like to know she likes to back her car into parking spots for a quick get-away.  Please say hello to her if you come in for an appointment or if you should get her on the phone.

Kellie Anderson comes to us from Central Connecticut University and is on board as our tax season intern.  She graduates this spring and is a drummer!  This make two drummers, one guitarist, a trombone player and a few singers on staff.  We almost have an FKCo band!!

Lynda, Kellie and everyone here look forward to assisting you in your tax and accounting needs.  Here's to an easy going tax season.
