In late March, our Marketing Directior, Jen Lowe, attended the President's Council at NAMM Headquarters located in Carlsbad, CA. She joined 25 of her industry peers to discuss the growing changes and needs of the music products industry.  She found the trip inspirational and energizing.  Hoping to make a positive difference, the group discussed different ways for the industry to re-invent itself and bring younger people into an aging industry.

Alan, Daniel and Jen will be in attendance at the International Music Products Association (NAMM) Summer Trade Show in Nashville, TN.  Alan, Daniel and Jen will be speaking on various financial and information technology topics throughout the weekend.  This is a great opportunity for us to reconnect with our Music Retail clients and get an update of your needs during the year.  2008 has been an exciting year so far for us here at the firm.  We look forward to the summer show to share ideas, listen to your thoughts and suggestions, and ultimately find ways to help you and the industry grow your business by assisting you with your accounting, tax, banking, credit and other finacial needs.

The American Taxpayer

aflag

Here are a few things you should know about being a U.S. Taxpayer...

  • E-Filing is the most efficient way for both you and the tax preparer to process a tax return
  • If you e-file as early as January and owe taxes, the taxes are not due until the April 15th
  • When you receive your tax return package in the mail from FKCO containing your prepared return, the most important thing to do is to open that pack immediately and follow the directions inside; do not wait until the week before April 15th, even if you owe taxes!! It's important to for you to review the return for completeness and accuracy, as you have the primarily responsibility for the accuracy of your returns
  • You now have the option to have your refund direclty deposited or tax liability withdrawn from a proper bank account of your choosing
  • Tax returns that are e-filed have less chance of error in the transmission of the tax data from the return to the IRS
  • Taxpayers who are entitled to refunds will receive those refunds a couple of weeks sooner from e-filed returns than from tax returns that are mailed
  • Taxpayers who are entitled to refunds will receive those funds even sooner when their returns are deposited in a valid bank account

Alan's Guitar of the Month
RPMDAStrat

While some of us enjoy a good bottle of California Pinot Noir, others enjoy plugging our axe int a 4X12 stack at 10.  No...I'm not talking about cutting 480 (4X12X10) pancakes with a hatchet.  I'm talking about the joy from cranking up your amp and making music with a special guitar in your hands.  So welcome to my (Alan's) "Guitar of the Month."

My pick for this first month is a 1957 vintage version of the most popular guitar ever made -  and still made today - the Fender Stratocaster.  These 3-pickup beauties have a distinctive sound that has shaped the music we've heard for the last 50 years.  From jimi Hendrix to The beach Boys to Eric Clapton to Los Lonley Boys, the Fender "Strat" is an American icon in the guitar paying world.  A vintage Strat, the the '57 pictured here, can fecth up to $50,000 or more in today's market.  So forget about funding your 401K or Roth IRA...just buy more guitars!
