Get Ready for the Tahoe Bike Challenge June 4 -15
The 7th Annual Tahoe Bike Challenge event is just around the corner and the Tahoe Bicycle Coalition challenges you to join hundreds of Tahoe bicyclists to bike to work, school and play. The Challenge is fun, easy and it's healthy for you and the Lake - show your support for a healthy environment by not driving your car - which has proven to significantly impact the Lake's clarity and our experience of this natural wonder.
The Challenge can be as simple as riding a bike for the very first time or challenging your friends and colleagues to the number of trips ridden, or miles and elevation gained during the event. The Challenge is your personal challenge - you define it! And, my registering your participation you receive chances to win daily prizes.
Challenge registration is online at www.TahoeBike.org and be sure to tell your friends to sign up for the Tahoe Cycling Newsletter so they will also receive the Daily Spin that will contain valuable tips, daily prize winners and notices during the Challenge.

Hey Tahoe Bike Buddies,
Wow the weather is shaping up nicely and the trails are excellent. Soon the sweepers will be out to vacuum the roads of debris and we'll be rolling high speed into Tahoe's cycling season. Already, I'm seeing a lot of Bike Buddies on the road and on the trails - even working on the trails with TAMBA trail crews. There is so much going on in our Tahoe Bike World that there is just not enough room in this newsletter to share with you all the good news - a good reason for more frequent communication. Since you are receiving the Tahoe Cycling News you can also expect to receive the Daily Spin - a special publication during the Tahoe Bike Challenge that will have discount offers, annoucements of daily prize winners, and other relevant notices to support your riding enjoyment.
On another note, please welcome the thousands of June riders (June is Tahoe Bike Month) with your patience, understanding and helpfulness as they learn to navigate our roads with construction sites, tourists and our own traffic. Know they are totally stoked to be here for their cause, their personal challenge to ride around the Lake, and to take in the natural beauty and community friendliness they have either experienced before or look forward to experiencing. Your Tahoe Bicycle Coalition is working hard on two fundamental strategic directions: helping build and maintain more bikeways in the region and promoting Tahoe as a bicycle destination. To the later, we would like to welcome our newest TLC (Tahoe Lodging for Cyclists) member - Tahoe Keys Resort. Tell your cycling friends who are coming up to visit to check out our TLC partners for discounts and support for their Tahoe cycling holiday. More about this to come. And, the new Lake Tahoe Bikeway Map is in final edits. We are really stoked about this 3rd edition because with the tremendous support of our sponsors we will be distributing maps to over 325 bike shops throughout Northern CA/NV and promoting it in Cycle California! magazine and many electronic outlets. I could go on, but for this edition I'll sign off with .... Keepin in real and rollin,
Ty Polastri President Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition |
