Bike Trail Map Revisions
The Lake Tahoe Bike Trail Map will be updated next year and we would like your suggestions to help improve its accuracy and value.  If you know of inaccuracies or have suggestions to improve the map, please make notes, draw trail lines, and cross-out inaccuracies on the map, and then send them to the Coalition at:  LTBC, PO Box 1147, Zephyr Cove, NV 89448 or by e-mail at biketahoe@aol.com.

Name Top Ten Bike Paths & Trails
We would like your input in helping us identify Lake Tahoe's Top Ten Bike Trails.  Our plan is name and describe Tahoe's ten most popular road routes and ten dirt trails so that we can share with each other and our visitors from around the world.

We will then use GPS coordinates, elevations, and video recording to accurately identify each route's way points, topography, and display short video clips with points of interest and scenic vistas on a new web site for 2011.

Tahoe's Mountain Bike Conference
This fall (Oct. 1-3), the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and the U.S. Forest Service will host the Tahoe Trails Conferene at South Lake Tahoe's Montbleu Resort and Casino.  The event, which is open to all members of the mountain bike community, will create a valuable opportunity for collaboration between riders, land managers, and the bike industry.  The goal is to ensure the future of sustainable and enjoyable trails in the Lake Tahoe Basin, and beyond.

To register, go to www.imba.com.  Space is limited to 200 participants. See you there.

Tahoe Bike & Trial Day Festival Planned for 2011
Plans to combine Tahoe Bike Day Parade & Festival with National Trails Day are moving along for 2011.  Both events already take place on the first Saturday in June.  Event Organizers are planning to leverage their combined resources to produce a more exciting, fun and valuable set of activities, education programs, and entertainment for visitors and residents.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 4, 2011, the theme will highlight trail riding, hiking and paddling.

Businesses and organizations involved with "human-powered" activities and supportive product/services are encouraged to begin planning to participate and may contact Ty Polastri at biketahoe@aol.com for more information.

Tip of the Month
After a ride be sure to brush your teeth before eating or drinking.  This will cleanse your month of dust, grit, pollen, emissions and other nasty items you've been sucking in. No telling where all this airborne stuff will lead.

Join Our Mailing List
Dear Tahoe Bike Buddies,

The Coalition is keeping its efforts rolling and producing results.  And, we can accomplish more with your help.  Here are a few ways you can help build our bicycle community:  tell your favorite business about the free bike rack program and encourage them to get one;  share your top ten bike rides for a new bike web site, help improve the bike trail map, get ready to participate in the Tahoe Bike & Trail Day Festival, and attend the mountain bike trails conference to learn and connect with others planning to build a world-class bicycle community and destination.

Now, no more whining about what isn't happening.  It is long time for all of us to recognize what is - how a dedicated group of bicyclists are working together with key stakeholders, agencies, organizations and businesses to help transform our region and become more livable, sustainable and bike friendly.

We can do more with your participation.  Become a member of the Coalition.  Volunteer to help out at our events. Voice your views and concerns at governmental meetings.  Write letters to the editor and your representatives.  Create events, programs, products or share your ideas with others to help build the future you see for Tahoe.

Working together, we can help create what is to be - now!

Enjoy the summer, be safe and friendly, and see you on the trails,

Ty Polastri
