135th Westminster Airing in February
|
 | Adam, handled by Gerlinde Hockla takes top honors in 1984 |
For a firsthand look at our wonderful breed, the Newfoundland, watch the 135th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on USA Network, Monday and Tuesday, February 14-15, 2011, from 8-11 pm ET. In 2004 BIS, BISS Ch. Darbydale's All Rise Pouch Cove, ROM (Josh) was the 2nd Newfoundland to win BIS at Westminster. Josh was bred by Carol Bergmann and owned by Peggy Helming & Carol Bergmann. The 1st Newfoundland won in 1984 when Ch. Seaward's Blackbeard (Adam) went BIS under noted breeder judge Kitty Drury. Adam was owned by Elinor Ayers and bred by Nancy MacMahan and Katherine Lein. Help us cheer on the Newfoundlands again this year! On the Westminster Web site, you can watch all the Newfoundlands in streaming video highlights of the breed judging that takes place during the day. For additional information, please visit the Westminster Kennel Club online. |
Working Dog Updates - Water Test Regulations
| The board has voted to approve the WDC's proposal to make the WRDX test part of the WD/WRD test. There will now be one water test with three divisions: WD, WRD, WRDX. Also- test committees should note that there is no longer a fee to apply for working tests, applications are being changed to reflect this, but there is no longer any need to send a check with an event application.
Multiple Division requalifications will be allowed at NCA Water Tests. Dogs may be entered in more than one division on the same day but only if they have already qualified, at previous tests, in all of the divisions entered. Each entry must be sent on a separate entry form. If the entry for the test exceeds it's limit and a lottery is necessary the dog may not get into each division entered. There will be no substitutions for dogs to change divisions if their entry is chosen for one division but not the other in a lottery. Judges must excuse any dog not in condition to finish the division entered and, if so, the dog will not be able to continue in any other division entered that day. Entry fees will not be refunded for dogs that are excused. Entrants are discouraged from pushing their dogs beyond their limits. Entrants passing WRD may not post enter into WRDX on the same day due to time constraints. Entrants passing WRD may change their entry to WRDX at future tests in which they had entered the WRD division.
