The 2011 Show Committee needs you!
2011 National LogoThere are still a few open committees that need chairpersons and volunteers to assist with.  It is getting very close to the deadline to have these committees filled so they can move forward and we can input their information into the National Packet.  Please take note of the committees in need and if you are aware of anyone who may be a great fit for the job or if your Regional Club wants to appoint a chair and take on the task as a club we think that would be fantastic as well.  These are time sensitive so as soon as this can be discussed with your board and/or membership please try to do that. There are detailed job descriptions posted on the NCA National Specialty website.

Please consider one of these tasks.  If you don't feel as though you can chair the committee but would like to be a part of it please let us know that too.  We need to get these committees formed and begin working on our National packet.

If you have ANY questions please email Amy Lane or Sandee Lovett.  Thank you for volunteering.
Dog Parks Gain in Popularity Nationwide
As more and more people enjoy outdoor activities with their dogs, many communities are choosing to establish a local dog park. If you are interested in starting one in your community, the AKC can help! The AKC Government Relations Department has turned their former "Establishing a Dog Park in Your Community" booklet into a printable, 4-page document full of helpful tips and suggestions on how to establish a dog park, talking points to use when promoting the idea to local lawmakers, and suggestions on dog park design and general rules and regulations.
NCA Charities Supporting Health Research for Newfs
NCA Charities has sponsored several health research projects that are investigating diseases and disorders that affect our breed. Researchers looking into fragmented coronoid processes (FCP)  and Osteosarcoma have provided study updates that are posted on the charities website. Check the site out regularly for news and information about ongoing research that affects Newfoundlands and all dogs. Remember to make your donation to support this important work.
Animal Policy Review Online

The National Animal Interest Alliance publishes a quarterly newsletter that is mailed to all US Senators and Representatives, as well as key officials in the executive and judicial branches of the federal government. If you'd like a legislator or administrator in your state to receive Animal Policy Review, please write to NAIA with their contact information and they will be added to the mailing list.

Visit the NAIA for more information and resources.

Greetings!

The NCA has committee opportunities for any NCA member who wants to get involved. The success of our organization is dependent on the hard work and dedication of our membership. Right now the International Liaison Committee is seeking members. The duties and responsibilities of the committee include:

· Serve as the liaison between the NCA and international Newfoundland clubs
· Develop and maintain a roster of foreign clubs, with a contact person for each
· Advise on international hospitality for the NCA National Specialty
· Receive, research, and respond to inquiries regarding international activities
· Solicit and submit articles on international activities for possible publication in Newf Tide and the NCA website
· Receive and respond to foreign club requests for NCA trophies to be presented at foreign specialties.

If you are interested in being considered for appointment to this very important and fun committee, please send a short resume to the Second Vice President, Kathy Mc Iver.

Sincerely,
 rogersig
