NCA e-notes  Monthly Electronic Newsletter of the Newfoundland Club of America
May 2010
Greetings! ,

This year in Frankenmuth, MI the NCA hosted the National Specialty. Special events abounded, honoring top dogs and recognizing outstanding service.
The winners, along with the results from every day can be seen at the National Specialty website.  The 2011 Committee, headed by co-chairs Amy Lane and Sandee Lovett are already hard at work developing new and exciting plans for next year. Please take a moment and send in your survey from this year's event to help with the planning process. If you would like to get involved and help out next year be sure to contact Amy & Sandee and let them know- remember- many hands make light work and if we all pitch in then no one has to shoulder the burden for everyone else.

National Blood Draw adds over 180 samples to DNA Bank
DNAThanks to support from the Van Andel Research Institute, over 180 Newfoundlands donated DNA samples to the CHIC DNA Bank. This works brings the Newfoundland presence in the DNA data bank to over 1000 dogs, second only to Golden Retrievers.  If you have not yet had an opportunity to submit your dog's DNA - it's not too late. Every sample is useful and the larger our base of samples the more attractive our breed is to potential researchers.  You can learn more about submitting DNA to the CHIC DNA data bank online.

Your seller fees are refunded, Giving Works and Mission Fish process the donation and send you a receipt for you taxes and then they transfer your donations to NCA Charities.
