Cooper Levenson is pleased to announce that George C. Godfrey III, a partner of the firm, was recently certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil trial attorney. To become certified, an attorney must pass a written examination given by the New Jersey Supreme Court, meet strict experience and ethical requirements, and pass a background check that includes recommendations of past court room adversaries and trial judges who have observed the attorney in action. This distinction is achieved by less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in New Jersey.
"Chip is a talented attorney and a valued partner. We are proud to congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition from the New Jersey Supreme Court," said Kenneth J. Calemmo, Jr., Chief Operating Officer. Other Cooper Levenson partners who are certified by the N.J. Supreme Court are Lewis April, Rona Kaplan, Russell Lichtenstein, Louis Niedelman and James P. Paoli.
Godfrey joined the firm's Employment and Casino Defense Litigation section in 2007 as a partner and brought with him a winning record in high-dollar civil litigation and particular expertise in insurance, personal injury, and workers compensation law.
In addition to his practice, Godfrey serves as an arbitrator in Atlantic County Superior Court. He formerly served as Co-Chairman of the Atlantic County Lecture series for Young Attorneys and was honored as the Atlantic County Bar Association Honorable Benjamin A. Rimm Award for Outstanding Young Lawyer in 1996.
Godfrey is a graduate of Colgate University (B.A. 1987) and the Oklahoma City University School of Law (J.D. 1991). He is admitted to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bars and the New Jersey U. S. District Court. Chip is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Vincent S. Haneman American Inn of Court, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
