I have come to some very exciting realizations while running out on the trail. I have found that if at any point during my run should my thoughts wander to something that did not go as well as I would have liked, I become tired and lose all my energy. Just thinking about solving current problems can also drag me down. It appears my performance is directly related to my thought process.
When consciously shifting my thoughts to events I would like to have happen in the future or times when I have had major success in my life, my pace becomes much faster. Running along happily energized with good thoughts has made my journey effortless and I am thrilled. I have found I am consistently taking time off my runs without even thinking about speed.
I visualize deals that I plan to get and the work that will follow, not questioning how or when, just staying with the vision of it all happening and how I will feel doing the work. Imagining the looks of enlightenment on the faces of my clients and the joy for me just being a part of it all is tremendously energizing.
Planning a trip I would like to take some day is also energizing. I think about where to go, what I will wear and the adventures that will come my way. The process of looking forward is exciting!
If you choose to look back, just remember the successful times when you accomplished wonderful things and felt empowered beyond your wildest dreams. A great example of this is when you think of the first time you ever drove a car alone after getting your drivers license.
By paying careful attention to where you are looking creates a magical energy in your day. Take a moment right now to remember a time in your past where you were on top of the world and there wasn't anything you couldn't do. Then think about positive visions you have for your future. See yourself already attaining whatever it is and how it feels to be doing it.
Now, take a minute to think of problems you have had in the past or even today. Notice what happens to your energy level. You are mentally exhausted and restricted with all the negativity. You can actually feel the pressure between your eyebrows as you go deeply into your head searching for answers.
Now that you have given yourself a chance to experience both the looking back and looking forward, which one do you choose? You are at choice of how you look at your day and the world around you. Why wouldn't you want to be energized all the time? Your energy affects everyone you come in contact with, whether it is in person, on the phone, texting or tweeting. You have a chance to influence not only your day but the day of those around you. How exciting is it to know your performance can be enhanced effortlessly and in doing so it brings everyone else up a notch or two! Give it a try and embrace the joy!
