Dear

It is my pleasure to begin this new bar year by  thanking you for your generosity in helping The Fellows achieve another record-breaking year in fundraising to support the Foundation's superb research.  In addition, we added 574 new Fellows and 300 Life Fellows to our rolls and have continued to diversify our membership.  My request this year is for each of us to identify lawyers for nomination to The Fellows, adding strength and every aspect of diversity.

Why do we need you?  To support the Foundation's scholars who engage in research critical to our profession, some of which you can review by clicking here.  In addition, The Fellows have undertaken to establish a Research Chair in Diversity to lead research in solving some of our toughest professional and societal challenges.  More detail is available by clicking here.  Please contact Lucinda Underwood with any questions.

Thank you again for your tremendous support this past year.  Chair-elect Myles Lynk, Secretary Don Slesnick, and I welcome your suggestions and yes, even your complaints.  We want to hear from you this year and especially look forward to seeing you in New Orleans, February 2-5, 2012.

Best regards,

Summer Research Diversity Fellowships

The American Bar Foundation was delighted to welcome this year's recipients of the Summer Research Diversity Fellowships in Law and Social Science. Chosen from a competitive nationwide pool,

the four undergraduate students spent the summer assisting

ABF research faculty with complex legal and social science research projects.

The Summer Research Diversity Fellowship Program

is designed to introduce undergraduates from diverse backgrounds to the rewards and demands of a research-oriented career in the fields of law and social science. The ABF would like to thank the
