Seventh Annual Collegiate Real Estate Conference at DePaul
On April 8th, The Real Estate Center hosted the Collegiate Real Estate Conference on the Loop campus.  This annual event provides students with the opportunity to engage with real estate professionals who represent multiple disciplines in the industry.  The aim is to expose students to the many career options that are available to them as students in real estate so that they can make informed career choices.  The structure of the conference allows students to engage with established professionals at a round table luncheon, at three breakout sessions of choice and at the closing networking reception.

This year's breakout sessions were:

Brokerage
Corporate Real Estate
Development
Lending
Property Management / Asset Management
REIT / Institutional Investment

Graduate Students Receive Scholarships to Attend REITWise 2011 Conference
REITWise 2011 is NAREIT's Law, Accounting and Finance conference which was held in San Francisco on March 23-25.  In keeping with the Center's mission to give students real-world, practical experiences, the Center funded two travel scholarships for one graduate and one undergaduate student to attend the conference.  The Center scholarships covered airfare and hotel accommodations for the students, and the conference registration fees were provided by Real Estate Center Sustaining Sponsor, Ray Milnes, Jr., of KPMG, National Industry Sector Leader - Building, Construction & Real Estate.

According to the MBA candidate and scholarship recipient, Derek Fohl, "The REIT WISE conference was a great opportunity to learn more about current trends in the real estate marketplace as we rotated through the various roundtable discussions.  It also allowed me to network with senior level executives and learn more about challenges as well as opportunities within their business.  I would encourage other DePaul MBA students to take advantage of this experience provided by The Real Estate Center."
