Green Leasing Conference: An Objective Perspective
|
On February 26th, the DePaul Real Estate Center and the Solon Institute for Building Performance and Policy hosted a half-day seminar entitled "Green Leasing in Existing Buildings: Critical Concepts and Strategies for Landlords and Tenants."
Green leasing has become a hot topic in real estate, and the presenters provided an on-the-ground look behind the curtain to reveal both the opportunities and the risks. The speakers are nationally recognized experts in sustainability and risk management: Ujjval Vyas, Ph.D., J.D., an independent consultant with Chicago-based Alberti Group, President of the Solon Institute, and an adjunct faculty member at the Real Estate Center; Brain Anderson, Esq. of the Wisconsin law firm Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek; Paul D'Arelli, Esq. of the Florida law firm Berger Singerman; and Douglas White, Esq. of the California law firm Weintraub Genshlea Chediak.
The seminar continues the Real Estate Center's efforts to provide objective and substantial information about the realities of green development, design, and construction. The enthusiasm of the response to the presentation confirms the role that both thoughtful analysis and practical experience must play to successfully implement meaningful sustainability policy in the built environment.
