Today we celebrate the Holy Baptism of Aubrey Marie Saterbak, daughter of Eric and Katherine Saterbak.  Aubrey's Baptismal sponsors are Matthew Saterbak and Nicole Mehrwerth.  Welcome, child of God!

Lutheran Night at the Twins:  Orders for tickets will begin today for the August 26 game against the Baltimore Orioles.  This will be the ninth year of our participation in this event.  Last year we had 46 members and friends join us as we bussed to the Metrodome.  This year's total price is $12.00 including the bus ride; $7.00 for a game ticket only.  Hot dogs are sold at the game for only $1.00.  Whatta Deal!!

Coming Next Week:  Boredom Busters!  All 6th -8th graders are invited to join your friends at church for another get-together.  On Wednesday, August 5, we'll head out to Culvers for a cold treat, then back to church for a game of Frisbee golf around the church and Greenwood school grounds.  Bring $3.00 for your treat as well as your favorite flying disc.  Call Pastor Jeff at 612-709-1431 if you need a ride!  Another Boredom Buster day is coming August 12.

Altar Flowers are given in celebration of their wedding anniversary by Suzanne and Robin Oxley.

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE AUGUST NEED-OF-THE-MONTH

IOCP is recruiting school supplies and volunteers to staff the August Back To School! Program.  Families living in IOCP's service area who are financially challenged by the cost of school supplies are eligible to participate.

We invite you to help by donating suggested supplies or making a financial contribution.  Please bring supplies to the table in the Narthex from now through Friday, August 21. IOCP is also looking for volunteers to help with donation drop off, set up, distribution and tear down. Call Susan Fetterer at IOCP (952-516-6061) if you'd like to volunteer. You will find a list of volunteer hours and needed supplies at the donation table in the narthex.

INTERFAITH OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Do you know a student thinking about college?  It's not an easy time to be making such a decision.  The August issue of Metro Lutheran includes a special Lutheran College section on pages 17-24 with ads and articles about some great liberal arts colleges in the Lutheran tradition.  Copies are available at the Information Center.

A note of precaution:

Since the H1N1 pandemic has been officially declared, we are taking a few precautions at worship.  At Holy Communion, servers are taking care to clean their hands with sanitizer.  But if you have added concerns, it is permissible to receive the wine only (served in individual glasses).

For awhile we have set aside the 'Sharing of the Peace' during the liturgy.  And, the Pastors will not be offended if you do not shake their hand after worship.  A kind nod and greeting is quite acceptable.  We pray that this pandemic will not be severe and will pass quickly.

If you want to have more summer fun with the Luther Park staff, join them at Luther Park in Danbury, Wisconsin!  Registration is open for Peace Lutheran's week of August 2-7 for grades 3 through 6, and 7th & 8th graders.  Go to their website (www.lutherpark.com) for more information and to register.

Also:  Any VBS helper or attending in camp will receive a $50 credit.  Pick up a gift certificate at the Information Center or speak with Pastor Jeff.
