Salvation Army Bell Ringing
An Intergenerational event!

We have reserved both doors on Saturday, December 13, at the Cub Food store in Plymouth.  That's right, Peace Lutheran is responsible for the kettles from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on that day.  Sign up and bring a cheerful holiday spirit as we help the Salvation Army raise money for their important outreach.
Sign up with Pastor Jeff and let him know what time you can be there!

At Adult Forum, Handel's Messiah, Nov. 30 - Dec. 21. A hallmark of the Christmas season, Messiah also encompasses Jesus Christ's death and resurrection and the anticipated redemption of the world through faith. This study, however, will focus on the portions of the oratorio appropriate for Advent. The music and lyrics of Messiah will become more meaningful through a clearer understanding of the scriptural basis and musical interpretations of some of its most familiar movements. Please come to any or all of these sessions and expect your faith to be enriched by a deeper appreciation of Handel's monumental composition! Meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:45 a.m., immediately after the Sunday School opening music.

Today is the deadline to order your poinsettia!  Please use the insert in today's bulletin, and place it in the offering plate or bring it to the church office.

We are currently in need of two Sunday School teachers.  Both of these openings are for team-teaching the Three and Four-year-olds and the Fifth and Sixth grade class.  We are also looking for high school students to help in the pre-school class.  These positions would begin after January 1, in 2009.  If you are interested, please contact Carol Forsberg.

Pastor Jeff is seeking individuals to serve on the Youth and Family Ministry Committee. Consider what you could bring to the important ministry of serving the youth and families of this congregation.  A new committee will be meeting on the next all-church committee night, Tuesday, December 2, at 7 p.m.

The altar flowers are given today in honor of the Cherub Choir by Rudy Raftshol.

December Need-Of-The-Month are items Midge Shaw will be bringing to the Dominican Republic on her mission trip in January.  The list of items can be found in the December issue of Peace Notes, and also at the collection site that has been set up.

The Social Action Committee has posted on the bulletin board a new request from Thrivent Financial.  All monetary donations to our local food shelf (IOCP) that are made in November will be matched.  For every $3.00 we donate, they will donate $1.00.  Check it out!

Davey and Goliath's Devotions for families on the go!  Each week has four pages of fun-filled Bible-based activities.  Pick up a copy of the winter issue at the Information Center.

Even as the season of Advent begins, we are overwhelmed by the trappings of Christmas.  They are all around us.  The "positive parenting" columnist in this month's Metro Lutheran offer practical tips on how not to be crushed by the onslaught of holiday expectations. Copies of the December issue are available today at the Information Center.
