Welcome New Members!  Today we receive two families into our community of faith:

We will receive our new members at the 10:45 worship service.  A cake and coffee reception will be held in between services.  Please join us at 9:35 to welcome them. 

Today!  High School bowling at Medina Lanes, October 19, at 11:45 am.  We will stop at McDonald's for lunch before bowling. Cost is $8 plus money for your food.  Invite a friend! 

Polkadots are taking a trip to the Minnetonka Apple Orchard today.  Bring the family!!  We will meet at the church at 1 o'clock and drive together to the orchard.  Admission is $4 per person (ages 3 and under free).  Questions, call Sarah Kerbeshian at (763) 478-8895.

Change of Date! OWLS will meet on Thursday, October 23, for dessert and coffee at Peace.  We'll meet at 7 pm and plan activities for 2009.  Come with your ideas and opinions and help us get organized for next year!!  Questions? Call Betty or Muril Pederson at 473-4987. 

Come to our Halloween Party on Saturday, October 25, 10 a.m. to Noon.  Games, fun music and crafts for pre-school and elementary age children. Come in costume. Lunch will be served.

Next week during Education Hour:  The fourth and fifth grade classes and their parents will conclude "The Apostles' Creed", led by our pastors.  Meet in the Activity Room at 9:35 a.m.  At Adult Forum, meet Luther Seminary Professor Kathryn Schifferdecker, our guest preacher.

Altar Flowers are given in celebration of 20 years of marriage by Dave and Carol Forsberg.

Social Action Committee's October Need-of-the-Month:  We're supporting our own Quilting Group this month.  Details can be found in the October Peace Notes.  Fabric donations may be brought to the table in the narthex.

A Souper Fall Drive!  Thank you for your initial response in bringing soup for the food shelf at IOCP.  All kinds of soups are needed: variety soups, cream soups, and broths.  More information is on the poster on the Social Action bulletin board.  Bring your donations here at church and place them in the big blue tub located by the kitchen.

Habitat for Humanity/Thrivent Builds There's a volunteer opportunity for a 1 day event in St. Paul on Thursday, October 23.  Sign up with Muril Peterson (763) 473-4987.

The October issue of Metro Lutheran includes a special section on "Senior Living" that will like be of interest to many in the congregation.  Several articles look at housing and financial concerns, but regular writer Laura Kaslow also examines cremation and ossuaries in a separate article in this month's issue.  Pick up a copy at the Information Center.
