News About What's in the Works for Film and Faith Managing Editor Greg Wright
As 1 - Unite for Good A new "movement" website launched this week. The goal of As 1 is "to restore the Church to its historically traditonal role as a patron of the arts." So this moves me for a couple reasons. First, I get into a lot of conversations with non-Christians and atheists, and let's face it: with our tendency toward narrow-minded and fearful responses to anything that doesn't fit into our neat little safe-for-the-whole-family boxes, we do a lot of really bad PR for God... and don't at all mirror the kind of Jesus who had no trouble sitting down for a little wine with tax collectors and harlots. Who, exactly, do we think we're fooling? So I'm pretty jazzed about a Christian movement that says, "Enough! Counting boobs and swear words is not what God is calling us to do." Second, I'm not just an editor... I'm an artist, too. I'm a novelist, a playwright, an actor, a poet, a photographer. I know what it's like to express myself through art and have someone tell me my art isn't "Christian enough"... or refuse to carry it in their store because I used the word "damned" in the text. Whatever. So I'm equally jazzed to hear a call to support artists in all their gory glory. A painting or a movie should never be confused with Scripture... and also never its own unique power discounted. Click here to watch the As 1 introductory video and learn more.

Only Daughter
Wiederspahn is what I consider the nearly ideal model for art, integrity, and spirituality. Please consider supporting him. When I took a sabbatical from reviewing in 2008, Wiederspahn's work is what sent me back to my keyboard. I couldn't not write about it.
Race to the Finish
One day, neighborhood bullies were attacking Harlan when 16-year-old Paul jumped in and defended him. This unusual yet divine meeting became the genesis for one of the most encouraging stories ever told.
Daniel in Babylon
"Like Fiddler on the Roof and The Sound of Music, DANIEL is classic feel-good entertainment that community theatres will produce for decades. Guaranteed: you'll be singing these songs with a smile in your heart."
October Baby
On Sept. 1 from B&H Publishing Group comes the hit film's novelization. Fans will be eager to know that the novel delves deeply into characters' backgrounds, taking readers on an extended journey through their lives.
Randy Travis
Newswires across the country today reported the rather gruesome news that country music star Randy Travis was arrested after being found drunk and naked in the middle of a Texas road after having run his car into a ditch. The American Bible Challenge
"I think sometimes as a group Christians are not as joyful as we should be. I think people on the outside look and they go, 'You guys don't seem very happy. If this really is the Good News, you really don't wear it on your face very well.'" A Visit to the Set
There were things that the people at The American Bible Challenge didn't know about me when they invited me to visit the set for the taping of their episodes. They didn't know that I'm a bit of a game show snob.
