Chimpanzee Chimpanzee

An Orphan's Tale

Darrel Manson

The Disneynature brand has created a tradition of coming out with a new film each year at Earth Day. This year's offering is Chimpanzee. It would not be much of a jump to compare the struggle of these jungle primates to control their own territory and food supply with our own efforts at security in a world of finite resources.

Personal Nightmare, Beautiful Art

Greg Wright

I'm happy to report that Heaven's Rain is, in all probability, exactly the film that co-writer, co-producer, and costar Brooks Douglass has always wanted to make. It may, in fact, be the only film he has ever wanted to make... because it's his story.

Airs Sunday, April 22 at 7 and 9 PM on GMC.

Surviving Progress Surviving Progress

Big Questions

Darrel Manson

Do you look at history as a long chronicle of progress? The discovery of fire, the invention of the wheel, democracy, the American Dream... Yes, we do keep discovering or inventing things. But is that progress? What is progress?

The Lucky One

Erin Warkentin

"I think there are some of those things you see and you suddenly realize you're ear-to-ear grinning and just as that happens it also saves Logan's life," says star Zac Efron. "So how can you deny that's a sign?"

Sarah Brock The Simpsons That Were

Sarah Brock

This show will, of course, forever be engrained in pop culture and will live on in reruns long after it goes off the air. Although not every episode has been good, I don't see how anyone couldn't at least chuckle at a few moments in Simpsons history.

Although I haven't been a big fan of recent episodes, I thought that they had some good ones three years ago. Sean and I loved the episode where they went to Disney World.

But it seems that fans and critics have all agreed that their humor has been lacking of late. I have a few criticisms myself, like how they're more into "gross out" humor rather than a witty zinger...

J. Alan Sharrer The Perfect Faith-Based Film?

Sharrer & Sahms

There have been a lot of conversations about faith-based films at Hollywood Jesus as of late.  Since our goal is to provide pop culture from a spiritual point of view, it's about time we bring you into the discussion.

For this week's edition of Sound Off!, we would like you to put on your critic's cap and help us create (in theory, at least) the perfect faith-based film.

As part of this, here are three recent movie trailers to give you some ideas...

Elephants, Orangutans,
and Humans... Oh My!

Jacob Sahms

Now on Blu-ray. Two women, two worlds of animals, two stories. And one powerful documentary about love, survival, and our responsibility to be good stewards of the natural world. All in high-definition! Beat that.
