As it happens, this "Christ Type" or "Christ figure" also has the initials J.C. This is a trend found in several films and television shows. The heroes may not be sinless but their heroic narratives often allude to the Gospel narrative.

   Sound of Noise
   Music, Noise, Silence   Darrel Manson
What is the difference between noise and music? Is that the same for everyone? Do the sounds played by a professional orchestra have more a claim to the word "music" than the racket of city life?

   Bully Brock & DeArmond
If you see someone getting bullied, either muster up all the courage inside you and say something (knowing that God is on your side) or tell someone right away. But never, ever, sit there and watch it. That's just as bad as doing it, or worse.

"I was trying to avoid satire killing off the sense of a love story really, because it's very brutal," says Simon Beaufoy. "I always get very frightened by all the screenwriting manuals in this day that tell you how to write, particularly how to write romantic comedies. I don't really understand how they do that. I just work from instinct really."

Let me start off by saying that Sean and I love this show!    Faithful Films Jacob Sahms

In a parallel conversation, I've been challenged to consider what good art itself is, and whether the message or the vehicle matters more. Personally, a story challenging previously conceived stereotypes about race and class seems to matter more than a romantic comedy without sound or color...

Now on Blu-ray. I never expected to actually like the film, which, looked like an explosion of violence, special effects, and skin that couldn't have much more to it than the rather shallow story of the Spartans who died well... could it? Also new... |
