For many people watching the Academy Awards, the three categories of short films provide time to go get a snack. Now, however, some theaters are showing a program of the nominated shorts.

Short films are often made by those honing their craft and hoping for attention of someone who will give them a chance to get in the business. Of the directors of the nine films nominated for Best Picture, all but Bennett Miller of Moneyball has at least one short in their IMDB filmography. That said, let's take a look at the films nominated for Best Animated Short Film. These may be the feature filmmakers of tomorrow.
