Man on a Ledge Man on a Ledge

The Right Thing, or the Safe Thing?

Jacob Sahms

The film certainly has a wild premise, with an ex-cop prisoner-on-the-run pleading his innocence to a police negotiator on a ledge. Maybe there are easier ways to plead your case, but haven't we all been the person out on the ledge at some point in our lives?

After Fall, Winter After Fall, Winter

Pain, Death, and Love

Darrel Manson

As I write this it strikes me that this could be a set up for farce. Moliàre would have had a great time with this. But After Fall, Winter takes a darker approach. There is an atmosphere of sorrow throughout the film.

The Vow The Vow

Brock & DeArmond

This movie looks both romantic and heartbreaking. We, as a married couple, couldn't imagine forgetting the other one. It's times like these when we realize that we take things like our own precious memories for granted. Then again, isn't that what we do with God's love?

Sarah Brock Oscar Nominations... and Snubs

Sarah Brock

Ah, the Oscars! A time of celebration, acceptance speeches, fashion, and taking home that heavy trophy!

We love the Acadamey Awards and make a point to watch it every year. In fact, we think that they should do Oscar screenings at restaurants, just like they do at sports bars! That would be so much fun!

Spellbound (1945)

Spellbound Exploring Pent-up Guilt

Nate Watts

Now on Blu-ray. Can Ingrid Bergman's psychiatrist get to the bottom of a mystery that includes murder, mistaken identity, and the dynamics of psychoanalysis? The end result is both thrilling and thought-provoking.

Mark Sommer Serenity

Mark Sommer

Looking at human history, it is obvious this "ends justify the means" scenario always ends tragically.  Think of the millions killed in hope of creating a better world under Nazism and Communism. Even "democratic" societies tend to degrade into selfishness and dependency, leading to bondage.

God never intended governments to create "a world without sin." He has reserved that victory for Himself, in a time that "no one knows... not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." [Mark 13:32 NIV] Governments are intended to constrain sin, not eradicate it-only God can do that. When humans overstep their boundaries and try to take the place of God, they only make matters worse.

Which is exactly what happens when the Alliance tries to play God.
