Mayday Parade on the Noise Tour

Right across the street from the Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks, the vast Downtown Disney area houses the Anaheim House of Blues. An excellent little multi-level venue that has played host to music of all sorts over the last ten years, the HOB was completely sold out on a recent Saturday, and the pumped up crowd was chomping at the bit for the five excellent pop-punk/emo bands that took over the stage.

Unfortunately, we missed out on The Make, but got to hear the bass thumping from the dining area as we scarfed down a tasty burger and fries. The fans around us really enjoyed the Chico-area band, and I made sure to keep a sharp eye out (unsuccessfully) for quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, since they were the first band to sign on to his Suspended Sunrise Recordings label and he was playing at San Diego the next day.

By the time Mayday Parade finally took the stage, the crowd was 100% ready. The curtain closed and the pit quickly filled with sweaty bodies, and when it opened, the five guys from Tallahassee stood up front to screaming fans, and the real show started. Not that the opening bands didn't do an excellent job, but the minute Mayday entered, they proved without a doubt why they were the headliners.

Breaking Dawn Soundtrack

Breaking Dawn Part 1

Not to be Overlooked

Twilight Saga Soundtrack... Yep!

The Twilight movies were  instant successes.  Oscar worthy, they are not, but their fan-base stemmed from teen romance enthusiasts everywhere, who crowded the theaters to watch their book heroine become an on-screen reality.

The Twilight Soundtrack started out with music produced mainly from bands like Muse and Mutemath that inspired author Stephenie Meyer while writing the series. It wasn't the worst soundtrack I'd ever heard, but it certainly wasn't the best.

Then the second Twilight soundtrack, New Moon came out with a new director and a completely fresh look at the musical part of the film. The soundtrack contributors were a varied list of "who's who" in the up-and-coming artists category.

Suddenly, it was cool to be in a Twilight soundtrack. So when I heard the cast of characters for the Breaking Dawn album, I was not surprised. With artists like Bruno Mars, and Christina Perri, it's enough to entice even the most skeptical of musical audiences. And it did not disappoint.

This full length disc should really be entitled "The Love Album" as it's dripping with sugary sweet love ballads, which makes sense since this movie is all about weddings and honeymoons. But it does take a rather dramatically different turn from the other more dark soundtracks...
