I am going to be updating my coverage of SXSW 2011 as frequently as possible all week, hopefully every day.
What that will look like will be a brief synopsis of my day and mini-reviews of the films that I see daily.
I will be conducting several interviews but it will take me a little while to get those posted.

Friday was the first official day of the festival but the films did not begin until roughly 5pm. One thing I didn't really understand about South By Southwest is that there are panels and trade show events on top of the 300 or so film offerings. So I did attend a panel for SXSW first-timers to get oriented. So after getting my bearings a little, I headed over to the 1300 seat Paramount Theater in downtown Austin for the world premier of Duncan Jones' new film: Source Code. It was the only film of my first day, but it delivered.

I was excited about this film right from the start when I heard that Duncan Jones was attached. Jones made a small sci-fi film called Moon with Sam Rockwell that just blew my mind a few years back. So I was eagerly awaiting his sophomore project...

The Complete First Season Ed Travis
Now on DVD. The Walking Dead has it all: a good plot, excellent special effects, and enough pizzazz to be the best new show of the year... when it originally aired. I just wish I had the Blu-ray package!
