At a New York City press event, Nolfi said he purposefully placed clues in the film so that the audience could ponder if it is really chance that David and Elise keep meeting and fall in love or is something larger happening? One example of these indications is the use of sun imagery at certain key moments, and also seemingly random events that happen to Harry (Anthony Mackie).

 

If it is possible that the Chairman is orchestrating David and Elise's romance from the beginning, then David's pursuit of Elise wouldn't be a false lead but part of a larger plan-even if this plan is unknown to the angelic-like agents. It is clear that David's pursuit of Elise changes him in many positive ways.

I'm happy to report in this case that Heaven's Rain is, in all probability, exactly the film that co-writer, co-producer, and costar Brooks Douglass has always wanted to make. It may, in fact, be the only film he has ever wanted to make.

Now on DVD. Jordan's desire to get better even when others saw him as the best, and his love of the game, are admirable. We should take our God-given talents and do our best with them.
