HJ Manging Editor Greg Wright came back from London with some great video coverage of the event. You may be particularly interested in the responses he received to questions he posed at a religious press roundtable interview with Gresham. Here are links to the videos:
An article on NarniaWeb.com also alerted me to an interview with Douglas Gresham published on the online version of Christianity Today.
"glumPuddle" does a great job of commenting on a couple points Gresham makes about Dragon Eustace in the upcoming Dawn Treader movie and the Capsian/Susan kiss in Prince Caspian.
...Gresham was not denying that DragonEustace fights a sea-serpent. Rather, he was saying that the idea of Eustace earning his redemption was removed from the film.
As much as I DESPISE the kiss and think it totally flies in the face of everything Lewis was trying to do thematically with Prince Caspian... I think Gresham made the right call to allow it. It seems like he made his opinions on the kiss very clear but Adamson really wanted it. You can't hire a director and then start telling him what he can't do. That's creatively asphyxiating. The key is to hire a director you trust and then let him do what he wants to do.
I am gaining a new appreciation of Mr. Gresham and the difficult position he is in as the (as he puts it in the interview) "Narnia Policeman."
Also see comments Mr. Gresham made in a telephone interview with Greg Wright last week.
Our coverage from London continues with Press Conference videos recorded this afternoon. These appear in our Narnia Features section. Here are links to the first two videos in which Producers Mark Johnson and Andrew Adamson, Director Michael Apted, and stars Liam Neeson, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Ben Barnes, and Will Poulter take questions from the press.
