Operation NarniaGreg Wright, Hollywood Jesus Managing Editor
Here's a bit from a recent press release about Operation Narnia, first announced back in August:
When the Pevensie children first arrive in Narnia it was
always winter and never Christmas. This year, we've launched OPERATION
NARNIA, a partnership with Samaritan's Purse, to provide Christmas to
needy children around the world.
Georgie Henley ("Lucy Pevensie") has recorded a special introductory video for our websitedesigned to encourage families, churches, and ministries to create shoe
boxes filled with necessities, toys, and Christmas greetings. Imagine
the impact and smile each box will bring to a child in need on
Christmas morning. If you're going to participate in this great holiday event, get going! Shoebox collection start soon. Here's a summary of articles posted at Hollywood Jesus this weekend
about Operation Narnia (click on the links for the full articles): |

I have been browsing through the newly updated Narnia Faith website (see link below), and came across a great Study Guide titled Lessons from Narnia on Beauty and Bravery. The Guide confirms a few rumors about the upcoming Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie, so if you are trying to avoid spoilers, you will want to avoid this article until you have seen the movie. However, these spoilers are excellent reminders that filmmakers can
embellish the story and end up emphasizing points that C S Lewis was
wanting to convey. Although some recent revelations have me concerned, the "added scenes" revealed in this Study Guide demonstrate how the creative team apparently "got it right." Here are a few of the revealed spoilers. (Stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers!) Other Dawn Treader news:
Back in June, when the first trailer was about to hit the Internet, I announced the creation of NarniaFaith.com. At that time the website was offering a download of the trailer for use by churches. Narnia Faith has now launched a massive update to their site, and are offering Voyage of the Dawn Treader resources to help churches Learn, Teach, and Engage. Click here to view the updated Narnia Faith website.
Focus on the Family Radio Theatre has brought back the Chronicles of Narnia series.
A list of stations airing the Radio Theatre adaptions of The Chronicles of Narnia can be seen by clicking here (PDF format). Here is a list of my reviews of the Radio Theatre Narnia dramas.
(These reviews also cover the lesser-known Radio Plays produced by the
BBC.):
A newly-released trailer of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader has hit the internet, including a copy on YouTube. You can view it by clicking here. This is being called the "International Trailer."
Initial reaction on YouTube has been positive, although responses to a report
on NarniaWeb.com express some concern about the direction the movie
seems to be taking. The NarniaWeb report also includes a full
transcript and screen shots. My comprehensive analysis of the trailer is now online: The International Trailer.

Great Footage, But Is It C S Lewis? 10/09/10 - This new trailer is bound to cause even more controversy than the
first. This latest trailer indicates the studio's dedication to
quality... However, I am becoming quite concerned with the direction the
movie seems to have taken.
Inside Narnia Exploring The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe 10/04/10 -Inside Narnia is more than a cursory look at the themes of
the book... Brown's high view of Lewis's literary skill is evident, and I
found myself coming away with a broader respect for Lewis's abilities
as a writer.
The Hidden Story of Narnia Author Uncovers Spiritual Themes of Narnia 09/04/10 - The spiritual themes of Narnia, while they may be hidden from view
to the uninformed reader, were revealed by Lewis in a letter to a young
English girl. ... the newly released book by Will Vaus uses her letter as
an outline.
Chronicles of Narnia: The Last Battle BBC Radio 4 & Radio Theatre Dramatizations 07/31/10 - It must be remembered that the words we use are not nearly as
important as the meaning we attach to them. Through the ages there have
been people who have done horrific things in the name of Christ. But C
S Lewis would say that they actually were serving demons. |
