Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole
300 With Owls Kay Snyder
Full of intense battle scenes, treachery, and suspense... A movie to
inspire this generation. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much as I walked
into the theater. The whole idea of an adventure movie involving owls
seemed kind of weird to me. Plus reviews from Yo and Maurice Broaddus...Also Reviewed |
Featured Interviews: Like Dandelion Dust
Chad Gundersen on Excellence Greg Wright
"They'll do a smaller show," says Gundersen of his crew, "where they know they'll be treated with
respect, they know they're going to be able to have fun and do what
they do, rather than go off and do a big show and make the big money
but be treated like junk." Kevin Downes on Going A-list Greg Wright
In breaking out of the so-called "Christian ghetto" and making it into
the mainstream with name stars like Pepper and Sorvino, and A-list
screenwriters like Stephen J. Rivele (Ali and Nixon), has Downes watered down his objectives? Not that I can see. Instead,
the success has been a natural consequence of developing a "solid track
record" of "credible partnerships with other filmmakers," as Kevin has
put it.

Over the last few years, Hollywood Jesus has started covering a smattering of film festivals... Newport Beach, Palm Springs, Frameline... and now Fantastic Fest. Click through for complete festival listings and follow Ed Travis' blog entries at this year's Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas.
Corman, Norton, Rubber, and Mother's Day I got a chance to interview Edward Norton about his upcoming film

and I have some cool quotes from Edward about the spirituality of the
film and I can't wait to share those with you all in more detail later. Let Me In, Stone, and Buried This was my first ever day at a film festival, and it did not
disappoint. After picking up my tickets for the day's screenings, I
headed to another first of my life, a round table interview session with the visiting talent from Let Me In.

ABOUT HAMARTIA: In old Greek, the word for "sin" had the sense of
an archer hitting something else other than the target. At Hollywood
Jesus, we try each week to talk about pop culture from a spiritual
point of view in way that welcomes discussion from all sides. We very
often miss that mark... and we're not okay with that. This is the place
where we try to make amends. Host Monique Bos is your guide.
Anybody Up for Rethinking Priorities? HJ's reviews of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Let Me In
raise questions involving brokenness and what's wrong with the world.
Contemplating these issues could challenge us to redefine our
priorities and concerns. |
