Flipped
Discovering Maturity Darrel Manson
The film is not about what happens to young people when their hormones
start kicking in. Rather it is about little discoveries about life.
There are some adults that could learn from these lessons for tweens.
Patrik, Age 1.5A Chance to LoveDarrel MansonThe story is fairly predictable, but it does allow us to think a bit
about how we relate to people around us-in and out of families. The
real issue is if people can see beyond first impressions...

Featured Interview: Rob Reiner
Making Film Personal Elisabeth Leitch
While there are many Hollywood players out there who have written,
directed, produced, or acted in more films than even they can remember
themselves, writer, director, producer, and actor Rob Reiner is one of
the few Hollywood talents who can boast an involvement so many films
and television projects that have become nothing short of timeless
icons. Making his first unforgettable mark on film and television as
Archie Bunker's son-in-law, Meathead, on the 1970s television comedy All in the Family, Reiner has since helmed such acclaimed as well as audience-pleasing films as the cult hit This is Spinal Tap, the unexpected audience favorite Stand by Me, the romantic classic The Princess Bride, the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, the haunting Steven King thriller Misery, and the best picture and best director nominated courtroom drama A Few Good Men. But
while Reiner may have an uncanny ability to get audiences to fall for
his movies unlike any other films out there, while speaking about his
newest film Flipped, a coming-of-age story of young love set
in the early 1960s, Reiner plainly stated that before he even considers
bringing any project to the screen, he himself has to fall for the
story... Click through to read the full interview... |

ABOUT HAMARTIA: In old Greek, the word for "sin" had the sense of
an archer hitting something else other than the target. At Hollywood
Jesus, we try each week to talk about pop culture from a spiritual
point of view in a way that welcomes discussion from all sides. We very
often miss that mark... and we're not okay with that. This is the place
where we try to make amends. Host Monique Bos is your guide.
Dinner for Schmucks... Revisited 08/08/10 | Comment Here Dinner for Schmucks has proven a popular choice for Hollywood Jesus reviewers since its July 30 release: Yo, Matt Hill, and David Bruce have all shared their perspectives of this comedy, which stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. While Yo remarks that some of the crude humor was over the top, Hill
believes the movie held its raunchy elements in check. However, like
Bruce, they agree that Carell's "schmuck" resonates with viewers and
that the film conveys valuable truths through the character. As Bruce
says, Americans love to root for the underdog, and Carell endows the
role with his wildly popular comedic skill. To Yo, the value of Dinner for Schmucks is in the way it
lampoons and challenges people's superiority complexes. The flip side,
as Hill notes, is that the film portrays the "schmucks" as the real
heroes, the characters whom viewers ultimately find sympathetic and
want to emulate, rather than those who closely conform to societal
ideas of success but who are condescending, unimaginative, and
unappealing. Both reviewers frame their comments within an evangelical
Christian perspective, and this is where I hope to open space for more
conversation across spiritual beliefs. Click through for the full article...

What's In The Bible?
Good For Adults, Too Yo
It's important to teach kids what's in the Bible, but it's also
important to teach them why they can believe the Bible is True. But how
do you do that in a way that's educational and entertaining?
