Yo, HJ Games EditorNCAA in July
Yes, It's Getting to be That Time of Year

Yo, Playbox Editor

Are you ready for some football? What's that? It's only July, you say? Well, we gamers get the football season started a bit early. NCAA Football 11 is available, which marks the unofficial start of the football season for anyone who loves the game and owns a controller. There have been a few changes this year, but overall it's definitely a better game than last year. Look for a full review soon, but if you plan on renting or buying the game, you may want to check out one of the first articles we've posted for the game at the Playbox.

Of course not everyone is a football fan, so we're just about ready to post our review of Tiger Woods 11 for the Nintendo Wii. However, just because I like you all so much, here's the short version: better motion controls still make the Wii version THE version to own, and a few other tweaks make the experience a bit more like the real thing, but overall it's not all that different from last year. Like I said, the full review will be up soon, so be sure to watch for it, sports fans.

For all you nonsports-fans, here are a few of the other projects we're working on. We have our copy of Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 for the Xbox 360 and we'll have that review up soon. It's pretty much what you'd expect. We'll also have some thoughts on Crackdown 2 posted soon. What's the hold-up, you ask? Well, we're trying to think of something to say that we didn't say when we reviewed the first game. If that doesn't give you an indication of what to expect from it, I don't know what will.

And finally for anyone who's fallen a bit behind the times, we have posts on the new DLC for Mass Effect 2, a review from Michael M. on Trauma Team and Just Cause 2, thoughts on both of the recently released Transformers games, and a look at the recent Onslaught pack for Bad Company 2.

July is a bit slow for the gaming world, but with NCAA football to enjoy, it's not so bad. So enjoy the start of the football season and check back with the Playbox often for a spiritual point of view on all that's happening in the gaming industry.

Almost a Flatliner
Not totally sick, but it does have symptoms

A while ago, Nintendo decided that it was going to be awesome at doctor and lawyer games. While most systems try to master first person shooters or hack and slash, Nintendo was determined to rock the lawyer and doctor genre. It's a lonely genre that shares a few mediocre titles, but Nintendo has pretty much monopolized it.

Trauma Team is another stab at the genre, but this one is not merely just cutting people open. This one is inspired by manga cutscenes that follow five doctors in different stories. Think of it like Grey's Anatomy with a lot less fornication. Some stories involve emergency operations where you have to drain blood and pull out tumors. The other stories involve point-and-click mystery solving.

Story is the selling point as with any point-and-click game. In this area TT excelled! All the characters have full dialogue, great expressions and inflection in their voices...
