Dear Valued Subscriber
I have been updating our e-Newsletter readers daily by sending you the most recent news from my Google+ account. If you have not received these communications or would like to recommend your colleagues, please drop me an email and I'll add you to my 'circle'. In this edition I include news of our current editions, exhibitions/conferences that we are recommending and/or attending and brief notes on up-coming events.
Last week we were attending the International China Summit and VIV China 2012 in Beijing. The event was a great success and our magazines were very well received. In fact, we distributed in excess of 2000 magazines to interested visitors! This is a great way for us to reach new readers with a 'take home' message about our content and information on the technology from those companies that support us. We were repeatedly asked for our magazine to be translated and circulated in Chinese. We were very pleased to hear from numerous visitors how important our information and content was to their work. Watch this space for new developments in this area!
Meanwhile, as we were promoting our magazines in China, our team in Latin America was preparing themselves for AquaSur 2012, VIV Mexico and FIGAP. As you all know both IAF and GFMT are now in Spanish and we are looking forward to circulating our content throughout South America to those readers who would prefer to read in Spanish.
Sincerely
Tuti Tan Circulation and Events Manager International Aquafeed

Thoughts from the Aquafeed Team
 | Alice Neal |
The September/October issue of International Aquafeed is online now. Visit it here. My personal highlights from this edition an article by Eric Henry of Reed Mariculture on the uses of algae in aquafeed (it's not just fishmeal replacement). Talking of fishmeal, there are two articles which focus on this very topic. Dr Andrew Jackson of IFFO gives his view on the role of fishmeal and fish oil in sustainable aquaculture and Alex Obach of Skretting examines the options and challenges of alternative protein sources. With show and event season in full swing, we live up to our international name with preview articles on five top events from around the world. Click to read more about Global G.A.P, Figap, AquaSur, Offshore Mariculture and the BioMarine Business Convention. If it's news your after, then why not pay a visit to our blog theaquaculturists.blogspot.com. Updated daily with news and events it's a great place to keep up-to-date on all things aquaculture between print issues. Alice Neal Associate Editor, International Aquafeed |

International Aquafeed Magazine is proud to be the official sponsor of FIGAP's Aqua Pavilion
As we all know FIGAP/VIV is the most important forum in Mexico and one of the best in the whole Latin American region that brings together companies and professionals from all corners of the world and sectors such us livestock, pig, poultry, machinery and feed industries, but this years a new sector will added... Aquaculture.
As a result of that Figap/VIV and Perendale Publishers, editor of the International Aquafeed Magazine, signed an important agreement with the aim of promoting such important and growing sector of the agribusiness within FIGAP/VIV and encouraging aquaculture in Latin America and specially in Mexico
Aquaculture in Latin America
From 1970 to 2006 Latin America registered the highest rate of average annual growth in aquaculture - 22% per year, or three times the world rate of 8.8%. This surpassed other regions with important growth rates such as the Middle East (20% annual) and Africa (12.7%), and even surpassed China's aquaculture production, which grew at an average annual rate of 11.2% over the same period.
In contrast to other regions, Latin America currently has the greatest potential in terms of available area for future expansion of aquaculture.
Aquaculture in Mexico
Aquaculture in Mexico
In Mexico, aquaculture holds great potential as it currently represents only 0.1% of GDP.
70% of national production is concentrated in Mexico´s northern Pacific zone.
This means that the rest of the country is practically virgin territory for the development of aquaculture.
As a result, the aquaculture industry should be promoted. FIGAP/VIV can serve as the opportunity to showcase and promote new technologies for this industry.
Mexico holds great potential for aquaculture production, due to its water resources, favorable climate and geographic location with respect to international markets. Commercial fish farming in Mexico has been undertaken since 1964, however it did not become profitable (3.5 ton/ha/year) until 20 years later (1984).
Perendale Publishers through the International Aquafeed magazine is Official Sponsor of FIGAP's Aqua Pavilion and exclusive sellers of the stands.
In the event you´re interested in purchasing one of the booths for Figap/VIV 2012 feel free to contact us at ivanm@perendale.com (Latin American office) or darrenp@perendale.co.uk (UK office)
COME AND MEET THE TEAM AT BOOTH 700-C
We hope to see you there!
