Dear Valued Subscriber
The first fresh spring breeze is here, blowing away all the unhappy and gloomy economy woes, and giving us hope for a new season and new prospects. Before reading any further of our exciting news below I would like to stress that we are again in the process of preparing the print production of the International Milling Directory 2012/13. The International Milling Directory is now in it's 21st year, and has truly become THE publication for our industry in the 21st century.
Our current printed edition of IMD reached parts of the industry not reached before and the 2012/13 edition will go even further! As we have made many exciting changes and improvements in IMD for this coming year, we have put together a comprehensive Marketing Solutions Guide for the Directory which outlines all its advertising and marketing offerings - please find it HERE. You won't find greater digital 'presence' for your advertisements or promotional materials (logos, banners, etc) from any other publication or web service! We are second-to-none in digital innovations in publishing. APPOINTMENT OF NEW INTERNATIONAL SALES & MARKETING MANAGER It's always difficult when key staff decide their future career prospects lie in other directions. Many of you will know Caroline Wearn and know that she has left to further her career, and we wish her all the best in her new job and thank her for her massive contribution. However, I am delighted to inform you that we have appointed a new international sales and marketing manager in Darren Parris, who has already started with us and will strengthen our team considerably.
Darren, is English and comes to us from the travel industry where he was head of business development for a leading UK tour organisation.
His former company not only had strong publishing and distribution activities throughout the country, but also significant digital activities used to promote, market and sell a range of business-to-business and business-to-consumer products and services. His background is rich in identifying and meeting customer needs.
Darren will be a great asset to Perendale and to the users of the IMD in particular (both readers and advertisers alike) and will provide a sales and marketing service to all our customers that we see greater return on investment in the coming months and years. Welcome Darren! |
Sincerely
Tuti Tan

Pneumatic Conveying of Bulk Solids Course Pneumatic conveying is one of the most commonly used means of transporting bulk solids. Applications range from large scale ship bulk cargo unloaders through to small in-plant systems. The Wolfson Centre has wide experience of different pneumatic conveying systems and the types of problems that can arise as a result of mismatching materials, feeders, pipe designs, or air movers to one another. The presenters have pooled their vast knowledge and experience in dealing with these problems to deliver a 2 day course, twice a year, which will cover operational and design issues associated with such systems.
Day 3 is a practical session (optional) in their laboratory.

Pelleting of compound feed Pelleting of compound feed, which is scheduled in English language at International Research Association of Feed Technolog - in Braunbschweig, Germany from 20 to 21 March 2012.
In the EU, approx. 70 % of the industrially produced compound feed is pelleted. Highest demands are put on quality. Conditioning, pressing and cooling require more than half of the energy necessary for the production of compound feed. An essential evaluation criterion for the pellet quality is the abrasion stability - but not every formulation leads directly to acceptable pellets. A multitude of influencing factors must be paid attention to, like e. g. physical and chemical material properties, application of increased liquid contents, conditioning, steam quality, parameters of pellet mills, cooling as well as stability of thermo-sensitive additives. The rising energy costs require the utilisation of possible savings. So it is worthy to enlarge knowledge and competence in order to handle the pelleting process even better.
Technical knowledge on pelleting will at first be imparted in short lectures and then deepened in practical exercises at the pilot plant stations of the institute. In practical tests, the impacts of unfavourable process parameters on the pellet quality will be demonstrated. Different measuring and test methods will be introduced. Their applications will be practised. The participants will be enabled to improve the handling and control of the pelleting process in daily practice with simple means.
The course mainly appeals to employees who are directly involved with the pelleting process and can influence significantly the essential quality properties of the produced pellets (abrasion stability, moisture) by their technical know-how and experience.
The participation in this course is especially recommended for the training and further education of persons who have entered the compound-feed industry from other industries.
As the deadline for the registration is 9 March 2012 and there are still places available in the course, we would like to ask you if you are interested in participating. You may also forward this e-mail to your colleagues and other people who may be interested.
