Dear Valued Subscriber
It's a busy month with many exhibitions happening. I believe many of you are just like me, couldn't split ourselves to attend all the exhibitions we'd like to. Last week we came back from Victam Asia 2012 which was held in Bangkok, Thailand. As GRAPAS Conference organiser, we can report the conference a great success with interest not only from local Thai flour and rice millers, but those from neighbouring countries throughout the far east and south east Asia. I would like to congratulate the Victam organiser and exhibitors for this very successful exhibition. I will be leaving for Ipack-Ima in Milan on Monday and very much looking forward to meeting many more people from our industry there. If you plan to go to this event please drop by. We are at Hall 13 stand A04
Another important upcoming event is GEAPS in the USA. We are participating there too. Our GEAPS stand number is: 1512. If you would like to know what's the latest technology we are using in reaching new readers and marketing our customers' IMD advertisements (and to see what kind of ROI you are getting) then you shouldn't miss this opportunity to chat with our staff. Perendale CEO Roger Gilbert will be there too. For this important event we have extended our IMD web Application (PPLAPP) for smartphones and tablets, to let you know about GEAPS and just who from our IMD companies are exhibiting. We are extending this service to cover all 80 events we have media partner agreements with. So, why not look at the company's in PPLAPP who are attending, the products they will be exhibiting and make arrangements prior to the show to visit with them ... all this can be done from PPLAPP while you're on the move! Whether you are a user or a listing company, IMD is becoming one of the most useful tools in your day-to-day referral system - and soon it will be something you can't afford to be without. So if you don't have PPLAPP on your phone or tablet yet, or if your company is not listed in IMD (and would like to do so) please navigate to www.internationalmilling.com It's free to use and to be listed ... Finally, we are making several changes at Perendale (improving our human resources) to meet increased demand for our specialised services and to provide our readers, users and customers with an enhanced experience, making it easier to find our technical and news content either in print or online. I include the latest companies news, industry news and many exciting event news in this February e-Newsletter. If you have an exciting event and would like to share it with our reader please get in touch. |
Sincerely
Tuti Tan

International Grain Trading Summit - 2012 The National union of grain producers of Russia and APK-Inform Agency under support of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, announce about holding of the International Grain Trading Summit - 2012 (April 26-29, 2012, Jordan, Amman). The conference declared itself six years ago, becoming one of the key grain market events in the region of Middle East and North Africa. Gathering over 250 participants from around the world annually, the Summit provides an opportunity to leaders of the grain trading to give careful consideration and comprehend the basic events of the season, their causes and consequences, see new opportunities for next season.
Traditionally, during recent years Egypt was the conference place, but in the current year the organizers decided to break the tradition and hold the event in the sunny country of Jordan. The country was not randomly chosen to carry out the Seventh International Grain Trading Summit. Located in the heart of the Middle East, Jordan can rightly be called as a small "Middle Eastern Switzerland". Thus, neighboring to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Israel turns the country into a gateway to the Arab land. At the same time, political and economic stability allows Jordan to become the "cornerstone" in business relations between various countries of the region and the remaining world. The current political situation has beneficial effects on formation of market relations and creation of the necessary conditions for development of mutually beneficial business cooperation of the CIS countries with the Middle East countries.
Expected number of participants - 200 delegates. Geography of participants: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Libya, etc. You can get more details about terms of participation, sponsorship, advertising services, contacting the marketing department of АПК-Inform Agency: Tel: +380 562 320-795 Email: global@apk-inform.com _____________________________________________________________________

Practical Powder Characterisation for Industry Course The course was designed to give delegates an overview of various methods of measuring the behavioural properties of powders. It is designed to include hands-on experience with as many of these methods as practical.
You will discuss Particle size measurement (manual and automated), Density (solid and bulk), Flow property measurements, Moisture mechanics, Segregation, degradation and caking, Explosability, Pneumatic conveying properties and Dustiness
For each technique covered the presenters will:
· Introduce relevance to real-world handling scenarios · Show how technique works, demonstrate if appropriate · Discuss relative accuracy, selectivity and relevance
Day 2 is a Practical session, using the techniques discussed.

Pelleting of compound feed, which is scheduled in English language at International Research Association of Feed Technolog - in Braunbschweig, Germany from 20 to 21 March 2012. In the EU, approx. 70 % of the industrially produced compound feed is pelleted. Highest demands are put on quality. Conditioning, pressing and cooling require more than half of the energy necessary for the production of compound feed. An essential evaluation criterion for the pellet quality is the abrasion stability - but not every formulation leads directly to acceptable pellets. A multitude of influencing factors must be paid attention to, like e. g. physical and chemical material properties, application of increased liquid contents, conditioning, steam quality, parameters of pellet mills, cooling as well as stability of thermo-sensitive additives. The rising energy costs require the utilisation of possible savings. So it is worthy to enlarge knowledge and competence in order to handle the pelleting process even better.
Technical knowledge on pelleting will at first be imparted in short lectures and then deepened in practical exercises at the pilot plant stations of the institute. In practical tests, the impacts of unfavourable process parameters on the pellet quality will be demonstrated. Different measuring and test methods will be introduced. Their applications will be practised. The participants will be enabled to improve the handling and control of the pelleting process in daily practice with simple means.
The course mainly appeals to employees who are directly involved with the pelleting process and can influence significantly the essential quality properties of the produced pellets (abrasion stability, moisture) by their technical know-how and experience.
The participation in this course is especially recommended for the training and further education of persons who have entered the compound-feed industry from other industries.
As the deadline for the registration is 9 March 2012 and there are still places available in the course, we would like to ask you if you are interested in participating. You may also forward this e-mail to your colleagues and other people who may be interested.
