Dear Valued Subscriber
On behalf of all team members at Perendale Publishers Limited I would like to wish our readers a Happy New Year 2012, especially to those who, like us, are working right through to the end of 2011.
The topic we are all excited about in the office is that IMD is now mobile - available to smart phone and tablet users no matter where you are! The app contains full contact data for all of the companies that are listed (updated in the past 12 months) with us, as well as full product and services listings, just the same as in the printed version. Below are more details about this unique app ... which we call PPLAPP-IMD ... available to download by navigating to the IMD website.
Also below are full lists of very important events to attend for 2012, I have a very hard time deciding which events I shouldn't miss at all, they are all attractive and important. That's why later this month you will be able to see all the events Perendale Publishers supports listed in our PPLAPP-IMD. IMD team members will be flying to Atlanta, USA, for the IPE/IFE Expo 2012 at the end of January. We are very much looking forward to meeting with our readers, advertisers, writers and the event organisers. If you are going to be in Atlanta, please be sure to get in touch with me by (sending me a message via our new application) PPLAPP or dropping in to see me at Booth 411. |
Sincerely
Tuti Tan

A long term study of organic agriculture can show higher returns
A long term research study of organic crop systems has shown that they can provide similar yields to conventional corn-soybean rotation, but can return much higher economic returns. The Long-Term Agroecological Research (LTAR) Experiment was established in 1998 at the Iowa State University Neely-Kinyon Farm in Greenfield, Iowa running as a side by side comparison in Iowa showed that organic crops can remain competitive with conventional crops. As well as the economical benefits, the study showed that the organic system also builds healthy soils as well as increased nitrogen and increases in carbon, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium and calcium.

Pelleting of compound feed, 20 and 21 March 2012 IFF Braunschweig In the EU, approx. 70 % of the industrially produced compound feed is pelleted. Highest demands are put on quality. Conditioning, pressing and cooling require more than half of the energy necessary for the production of compound feed. An essential evaluation criterion for the pellet quality is the abrasion stability - but not every formulation leads directly to acceptable pellets. A multitude of influencing factors must be paid attention to, like e. g. physical and chemical material properties, application of increased liquid contents, conditioning, steam quality, parameters of pellet mills, cooling as well as stability of thermo-sensitive additives. The rising energy costs require the utilisation of possible savings. So it is worthy to enlarge knowledge and competence in order to handle the pelleting process even better. Technical knowledge on pelleting will at first be imparted in short lectures and then deepened in practical exercises at the pilot plant stations of the institute. In practical tests, the impacts of unfavourable process parameters on the pellet quality will be demonstrated. Different measuring and test methods will be introduced. Their applications will be practised. The participants will be enabled to improve the handling and control of the pelleting process in daily practice with simple means.
The course mainly appeals to employees who are directly involved with the pelleting process and can influence significantly the essential quality properties of the produced pellets (abrasion stability, moisture) by their technical know-how and experience. The participation in this course is especially recommended for the training and further education of persons who have entered the compound-feed industry from other industries _____________________________________________________________________
