US agriculture see Vietnam growing economy as an important market
The US is going to Vietnam in its first ever agricultural trade mission in the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh from September 26 to 29. Vietnam is one of the worlds fastest growing economies and an important market for the US. "US farmers and ranchers are seeing record sales of farm goods abroad and looking forward to some of the best net incomes in decades thanks to global demand for the American brand," said Michael Scuse Acting Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services. "Since 2006, no other major US agricultural export market has grown as quickly as Vietnam.

United Soybean Board predicts India to import soybean by 2015
India is the fifth largest soybean producer in the world contributing about five percent to the global output but the United Soybean Board predicts India could become a net importer of soybean by 2015. According to Jim Call, international marketing chairman of producers' lobby group, United Soybean Board, "India's population growth, economy growth and more people moving into the middle class, plus production being limited as far as their land-base will result in India having to import soybeans".

University of Kentucky honors Alltech founder and CEO
Dr. Pearse Lyons, the founder and president of Alltech was honoured by the University of Kentucky, College of Agriculture and Department of Animal and Food Sciences he was recognised as someone that has made an outstanding contribution to the department and to Kentucky animal agriculture with induction into its Hall of Fame. "Dr. Lyons is a strong supporter of graduate education at the University of Kentucky, and he has provided financial support for many graduate assistant-ships and for postdoctoral fellows in all disciplines," said Dr. Anthony Pescatore, UK extension poultry specialist.

Pakistan floods destroys animal feed storage
In Pakistan's Dadu district there have been several areas of flooding, several area's remain under at least four foot of water, this is destroying stored animal feed that was gathered for the livestock. Usually farmers store the animal feed and this can be sent to other areas and cities, but the recent rains has caused major flooding and destroyed the stocks of animal feed causing heavy financial losses.
