|
After
successful previous years, there will be a repeat of the 'Lange Nacht der Forschung'
(Long Night of Research) on November 7,
2009 in Austria.
In this
nationwide event, Universities, Technical Colleges, Research Organisations and
Companies open their doors from sunset to midnight to present their activities.
Last year,
more then 240,000 people visited 375 stations in six regions across the whole
country. The Long Night of Research is
an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research, the Federal
Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth and the Austrian Council for Research and
Technology Development.
For this
year, the number of participating organisations will increase as will the
number of stations to 503 in 2009. A major focus this year will be
application-oriented research and research done by the industry. As a research
oriented company, Romer Labs naturally will
participate at thier headquarters in Tulln.
Next to the
IFA Tulln (the Department for Agrobiotechnology of the University of Natural
Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna), the Technical College and the
Agricultural Highschool, Romer Labs will present itself at the Technologiezentrum Tulln (Technology
Center).
Planned are
two stations from Romer Labs, one geared towards kits, explaining them in a
playful and entertaining way, how chromatography works and the other will
introduce visitors to technologies used in food analysis, introducing Romer
Labs state-of-the-art test kits in the food safety area.
Romer Labs
see this as yet another way to inform the public about the importance of food
safety testing.
