Six Companies named to list by Corporate Responsibility Officer and Fortune Magazines

MILWAUKEE-Donors Forum of Wisconsin is pleased to announce the recognition of five members by Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 2009 ranking of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens and Fortune magazine's 100 Most Admired Companies.

Johnson Controls, Inc. ranked as one of the 22 best corporate citizens nationally and Wisconsin Energy Corp., the Milwaukee-based parent company of We Energies, ranked as one of the top 47. Fortune magazine's Most Admired Companies included Donors Forum members: Northwestern Mutual, Johnson Controls Inc., Manpower, and Kohl's Corp.

Donors Forum of Wisconsin, by establishing, maintaining and encouraging an engaged network of grantmakers across Wisconsin, is excited about the accomplishments of their member organizations.

Donors Forum of Wisconsin is a regional association of grantmakers who support and promote effective philanthropy by providing opportunities for networking, professional development, community leadership and knowledge. Comprised of over 130 members, DFW is the premiere resource for philanthropy in Wisconsin.

To produce the lists, CRO evaluates approximately 1,100 publicly held companies in the areas of employee relations, environment, financial performance, governance practices, human rights, lobbying and philanthropy and Fortune surveys businesspeople to vote for the companies that they admired most.

"We're certainly excited about the recognition from these publications, and would like to congratulate our members for receiving this honor," said Deborah Fugenschuh, President of the Donors Forum of Wisconsin.

"It's important not only that these companies receive recognition nationally, but that we tell the story of how corporate philanthropists are making a significant difference in the lives of each and every Wisconsin resident as well as strengthening Wisconsin's economic competitiveness," said Fugenschuh.

An estimated $547 million was granted from Wisconsin's roughly 1,300 independent, family, community and corporate foundations in 2008. Of that total Wisconsin corporate foundations and corporate giving programs grant $142 millon into Wisconsin communities.
