More About Us
Concrete Carpet Design

Do you have a concrete floor that is drab or a formica countertop that is begging for attention?  Let Faux Time Design create a unique textured appearance and transform your garage or basement concrete floor or formica countertops into a beautiful design element.

Faux Time Design is now a certified preferred applicator of the SkimStone Decorative Floor Finish System by Modern Masters. The system is an innovative trowel-applied hybridized cement product that has endless design possibilities.

Working with Modello Designs, our decorative masking pattern supplier, we can provide our clients a computer color match rendering of each design.  Imagine a concrete carpet as beautiful as it is durable.  Fauxbulous!

Summer Painting List

Everyone has a summer reading list -- give me a good book and a beach and I am in heaven!  Even Oprah just came out with her best picks to take to the beach.  So here are our favorite summer painting projects for the summer --- some quick and easy and few larger projects to consider.

The 'Quick and Easy' Projects:

  1. Clean and repaint your home's baseboards
  2. Don't let scuff marks on your staircase risers drive you crazy -- repaint those risers now!
  3. Paint or stain your child's wooden swingset
  4. Repaint wicker furniture (NOTE: woven coverings on your wicker furniture make excellent surfaces for decorative painting).

The 'Big Ones' to Tackle:

  1. Paint the exterior of your home.  Go to www.benjaminmoore.com for suggested paint schemes.
  2. Stain your deck or add a timeless look to your porch with a checkerboard floor pattern.
  3. Once the kids are off to camp, why not tackle those 'big' interior jobs that seem to be such a hassle during the year.

Greetings!

Some of my finest summer relaxation comes from sitting with a good book. Escaping into the pages of a captivating read allows me to become centered and even more in tune for creativity.  Our summer newsletter provides a quick getaway, complete with a walk down Bourbon Street and even Concrete Carpet.  Who knew?

If the current heat wave is getting the best of you, we invite you to get cooled off by seeing and touching some our new finishes adorning walls thoughout our area.  Drop us a line.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: The Big Easy In New York

We recently spent eight weeks transforming our client's basement with more than 1,300 square feet into a quintessential scene straight from the French Quarter (see a virtual walk through here).  Just a warning, this space will have you craving a beignet from Cafe DuMonde!

BEFORE
Blues Brothers BEFORE
The idea started with the homeowner.  A professional home builder, he

installed reinforced steel beams along the ceiling to clear the basement of all load-bearing posts.  A commercial size bar (25' x 10') was commissioned and built to be the focal point and inspiration for the remainder of the area.

Once the 'bones' of the space were in place, Faux Time Design began working with the homeowner to select unique textural finishes and lighting effects that create the weathered look of downtown Bourbon Street.

AFTER
Blues Brothers AFTER
The homeowners are now surrounded by some of our finest designer finishes including, crumbled plaster walls with exposed stones, a sky mural on the ceiling with a 'surprise' night time scene (illuminated with strategically placed black lights), a riveted metal finish (created with plasters and metallic paints), and even our classic distressed leather finish.  It is topped off with a three dimensional mural of historic Hotel Embers including authentic cast iron railings and distressed molding.

Hold onto your beads, there is more to see!  Click here for a video walk through of the entire space.
