Even though being creative is in our hearts and our paint brushes, we are often so busy, that we never have enough time to explore our inventive, creative sides. During the summer, Jill and I use a special few days as an opportunity to get back into the studio and play around with new techniques and products that we have only had a chance to preview during the year.
Throughout the year, I keep a notebook of inspirations. By collecting pictures and keeping notes from museums, magazines and new exhibitions, it provides a wonderful 'to do' list. We block off our 'Inspiration Days' in the schedule and then the fun begins. We start brainstorming new techniques, tackling some of the trickier products that have challenged us over the past year and start creating new finishes to share with you.
There is nothing like the joy of creating! If you are interested in viewing some of our fabulous new finishes, give me a call and we'll stop by your home or office to present our entire portfolio. Let us transform your special space from flat to fauxbulous! -AS

FINDING INSPIRATION ABROAD
There is not better place to find inspiration for a decorative painter than in one of the places that it all began -- Italy! In May, I had the opportunity to spend two weeks in May, traveling from Rome to Venice. Imagine my excitement to see the works of Michelangelo, Botticelli and Da Vinci up close and personal!
From antique gilding in the basilicas and museums of Florence, to the masterly rendered mosaics at the Vatican in Rome, to the hand-painted trompe l'oeil tapestries and almost marble-like Venetian plasters in Vicenza, I was awed by works that date back thousands of years. The Masters' philosophy of highlighting the beautiful architectural embellishments and ceilings, while adding special features throughout, was everywhere I visited. I am so excited to share my newfound knowledge in our clients' homes.
My tour was a reminder that 'faux painting' is not just another popular trend that is soon to become outdated. From Egypt to Rome to Greece, decorative painting is an art that has been used for centuries to tell stories, beautify spaces and decorate homes. -JH |
WHAT IS ALL THE BUZZ ABOUT STAGING?
Given the recent real estate market, there has been an abundance written about staging homes. We decided to take a closer look to give you, our client, a little insight on what all the buzz is about.
According to the experts, 'staging' is all about creating illusions. Homes are often staged when they are put on the market to sell. And with the market in a state of flux, 'staging' is a creative tool to help a home look more desirable to a potential buyer.
From rearranging furniture settings to creating 'on the spot' window treatments, professional home stagers are often the 'ace in the hole' used by many realtors and savvy homeowners.
Want another idea to help position your home --- paint! Painting is the cheapest investment that will give you the best return when you sell a home. A fresh coat of paint will really make the room feels bigger, lighter and brighter. Do you have out of date wallpaper? Get rid of it!
Faux Time Design has worked with realtors and staging professionals to provide the final touches. We understand it's all about differentiating your home from the others on the market. Our finishes allow us to help create depth and height in rooms that just need that little something. The results are amazing - - and deal making. - AS |
