Downtown Awards Nominations
Submit your nominations for the Annual Downtown Bloomington, Inc. Awards. The National Main Street Program Four Point Approach is DBI's foundation for downtown revitalization. Award Categories are based in the Four Areas: Organization, Promotion, Economic Development and Design.

City Seeks Applicants for Farmers' Market Advisory Council
The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department is seeking one person to serve a two-year term on its Farmers' Market Advisory Council. Applications are due in the City Parks and Recreation office by 5 p.m. January 31.
Appointments to FMAC are made by the Board of Park. Commissioners. To request an application, contact Marcia Veldman, Farmers' Market Coordinator for the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department, at (812) 349-3738, or download an application from the Farmers' Market Web page at bloomington.in.gov/farmersmarket.
The Farmers' Market Advisory Council, or FMAC, acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Park Commissioners and City Parks and Recreation staff in policy matters pertaining to the facilities and operations of the City of Bloomington Community Farmers' Market. FMAC members also cooperate with other civic groups and governmental agencies in the advancement of the Farmers' Market within the Bloomington community.
The FMAC is comprised of nine regular voting members, four of whom represent Farmers' Market vendors and five of whom represent Farmers' Market customers. Special consideration will be given to applicants who represent downtown businesses and organizations.
FMAC meetings are held the third Monday every month at 5 p.m. in City Hall, 401 N. Morton St. in Bloomington. |

BEAD Announces Event Banner Program
The City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) announces an initiative to make space available on street poles to promote events and attractions that have an impact on tourism in Bloomington.
Event banner placement will be available on a first-come, first-served basis through an application process, and space will be available on up to 11 designated poles downtown. Banners must be produced, installed and removed by a professional sign company, and applicants will be responsible for all associated costs.

History Center's Annual Gala
The History Center is proud to present The Gayle Cook Jr. Historian Summer Program for the youth of Monroe and surrounding counties. The Jr. Historian Program is designed to immerse children, ages 5-12, in a living history experience. During 3 separate themed weeks throughout the summer the children will be able to touch history in ways they never have. By using historically accurate activities, food and field trips, the campers will experience the rich history of Monroe County, and Indiana, in a lasting, meaningful way.
With that said, the Monroe County History Center's Annual Gala Fundraiser is being held in honor of The Gayle Cook Jr. Historian Summer Program, and all proceeds will benefit the camp by providing funds for camper scholarships, additional staff, supplies, transportation and more. The Gala will take place Friday, February 11th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Cook World Headquarters, 750 Daniels Way, Bloomington. Guest speaker Michael Shelden will present Kissed by Sophia Loren: Adventures of a Hoosier Biographer and Globetrotting Journalist. Wine will be provided by Oliver Winery and food will be provided by Classic Catering. Social Hour, Cash Bar and Silent Auction will take place from 6:00pm-7:00pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm then Michael Shelden's presentation. If you are interested in reserving seats or a table for this memorable event please contact The Monroe County History Center no later than Wednesday, February 3rd.
