Exploring the Future of Bloomington's Downtown Post Office Block
A Purdue University Landscape Architecture class in partnership with Downtown Bloomington, Inc. has been challenged to develop an urban design solution for the First United Methodist Church Block (the current downtown Post Office site).  Thirty students  of the Senior Urban Design Studio in the Landscape Architecture Program at Purdue University have created possible design solutions that incorporate sustainability, parking and how the site can be integrated within the life of our community.

Juried projects will be on exhibit on Friday, December 10.
We invite you to join us for the reception.

Remembering Bob Sullivan
This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Canopy of Lights.  In 1985, Bob Sullivan Sr suggested bringing back the lighting of the square like it was done in the early 1900s.  With the help of Tom Gallagher, Mae Cassady and many others the Canopy of Lights tradition was started.  Bob Sullivan Sr was a big supporter of Downtown and his son Bob Sullivan Jr continued to support downtown and the Canopy of Lights after his father's passing.

This past spring, Bloomington lost a valued friend and tremendous supporter of Bloomington with the passing of Bob Sullivan Jr. We'll remember him fondly for all his work on behalf of the downtown area, including the revival of the holiday lighting of the square, and for his never-failing positive energy and genuine concern for others.

Among the many groups to which Bob devoted his time, he was very active in supporting Bloomington High School South's award-winning choir Sounds of South; his beloved daughters, Erin and Emily, were members of the group.  Bob took the time to measure all the boys in the group for tuxes year after year and made sure that their appearance was as first-rate as their musical performance.

Sounds of South has honored Bob's memory by setting up the Bob Sullivan Memorial Fund.  Contributions will be used to refresh the group's costume bags (which Bob would have appreciated!) and to purchase a new light board for the BHSS Auditorium.  If you would like to honor Bob in this way, please contact Marjorie Hershey or send your contribution to Sounds of South (with the Bob SullivanMemorial Fund in the subject line) to the group's treasurer, Don Seader, at 2661 W. Schmaltz Blvd., Bloomington, IN 47403.
